Episode 1 - The LemonLes returns a malfunctioning used car he just bought and becomes the prime suspect in the murder of the car salesman.

Episode 2 - The Ambassador (Part 1)When a British ambassador is accused by his lover, Shelby, of killing her husband, he refuses to hide behind diplomatic immunity and instead calls on Matlock to clear his name. Matlock discovers that the case will be more difficult than he first thought when Shelby testifies that she was an eyewitness to the crime and then disappears.

Episode 3 - The Ambassador (Part 2)When someone tries to kill Matlock and the British ambassador he’s defending of murder, Matlock realizes that finding his client’s vanished lover and accuser, Shelby, is the key to identifying the real killer, in this conclusion of the two part episode.

Episode 4 - The MistressMatlock suffers a series of mishaps when he tries to find a missing murder witness to clear his client, who’s accused of killing her philandering husband. When a bank official is shot dead in his office, his wife is present and later charged with murder, but she insists she’s innocent.

Episode 5 - The DJMatlock must overcome his dislike of a caustic radio personality and defend him when he is accused of killing a rival disk jockey. Arthur Saxon admits that he hated his obnoxious rival, Robby Moore, but swears he’s innocent of Moore’s murder. With Moore’s other competition as suspects, Matlock investigates their alibis.

Episode 6 - The CaptainMatlock defends a patrolman framed for murder and is upset when he must investigate his longtime friend, the chief of police, as the prime murder suspect. The patrolman claims he’s been framed for killing a fellow officer, who had been gathering evidence implicating the chief in a series of murders.

Episode 7 - The VendettaConvinced that his brother was framed for murder, a psychopath is determined to get even and holds Matlock’s associates hostage. After his brother commits suicide, the would-be killer holds Matlock responsible for the death. To even the score, he targets Matlock for murder.

Episode 8 - The Mayor (Part 1)Matlock uncovers unflattering secrets about the late mayor of Chicago while defending an aging hippie activist accused of the man’s assassination.

Episode 9 - The Mayor (Part 2)Matlock’s trip to the Windy City to defend a 1960’s radical accused of murdering Chicago’s mayor comes to a head in the second part of this dramatic two-part episode. Matlock is helped by reporter Paul O’Neill, who risks his life to prove a conspiracy is behind the murder.

Episode 10 - The Black WidowConvicted of murdering his wife, whose body was never found, Ken Wilson is released from prison after seven years. Wilson immediately sets out to find his missing wife, whom he is sure is not dead.

Episode 11 - The Other WomanA disappearing diary, a missing mistress and a preposterous police report pose problems for Matlock when he agrees to defend a psychiatrist, Lucas Forbes.

Episode 14 - The Thief (Part 1)A rare-coin dealer invests his trust in Matlock when he’s accused of murdering an employee who was caught stealing valuable coins. Meanwhile, Tyler becomes disgruntled when Matlock hires another private investigator, Linda Hansfield, to work on the case

Episode 15 - The Thief (Part 2)While defending a coin dealer accused of murdering an employee, Matlock and Tyler suspect the new investigator Ben hired, Linda Hansfield, is being blackmailed by the real killer.

Episode 16 - The ThoroughbredA picturesque thorough bred horse farm provides an unusual setting for murder when Ben Matlock defends a slow-witted stable hand, Tommy Jenks, accused of killing the stable owner’s daughter.

Episode 17 - The ModelBen Matlock defends a renowned journalist accused of murdering a beautiful international model. Matlock’s investigation is stalled when he is struck by a car and lands in the hospital with a slight case of amnesia. The accident however turns out to be Matlock’s first break in the case.

Episode 18 - The CultMatlock believes in the innocence of a man whose brainwashed son insists he saw his father kill the leader of his cult. Ben is the only hope left for a concerned father whose son, David, has been swept into a religious cult. Matlock’s main problem in solving the case is David’s reluctance to believe that a member of the cult framed his father for the murder.

Episode 20 - The PriestA lawyer friend of Matlock’s puts his faith in the crafty attorney when his client is accused of killing a feisty priest, Father Fitzgerald. Matlock’s investigation reveals a possible motive for murder – Father Fitzgerald kept a secret notebook of suspected indiscretions.
