Episode 1 - The Hunting Party (PART 1)

The peace and serenity of historic Roanoke Island is shattered when a retired career soldier, Spencer Hamilton, attempts to prove his late brother’s death was nota hunting accident, but murder.

  

Episode 2 - The Good Boy

When Tony Morgan, a smooth-talking, seemingly perfect son, frames his mother for murder, no one even suspects Tony is involved. No one except Ben Matlock, who tries to prove the “good boy” isn’t so good after all.

  

Episode 3 - The Best Seller

District Attorney Julie March matches wits with tempestuous author Cynthia Slayton, whose torrid novels are suddenly eclipsed by facts surrounding the death of her best friend. As the pre-trial investigation proceeds, it becomes increasingly apparent everyone around Cynthia Slayton has one thing in common... they hate her.

  

Episode 4 - The Ex

Ben Matlock finds himself in an awkward situation when he joins Julie Marchin Baltimore to help her defend an old friend accused of murder. The prosecuting attorney, Donald March, is Julie’s ex-husband, a slick operator who is just as interested in rekindling the flames of their romance as winning the case.

  

Episode 5 - The Clown

Matlock holds the last ray of hope for a veteran circus clown, Homer Fleming, accused of murdering his partner during a performance. Evidence indicates Fleming had both motive and opportunity to commit the crime, but Matlock’s investigation also proves he would have to take a number... and wait his turn.

  

Episode 6 - The Star

Ben Matlock uncovers plots within a plot when Noel Bishop, the wunderkind director of horror films, is accused of murdering motion picture star Catherine McKay as the cameras roll.

  

Episode 7 - The Con Man

Ben Matlock has serious doubts about a code of ethics among con artists which is never supposed to include murder. He knows his client, Brian David, didn’t kill anyone... but a man is dead and the only other suspects are members of an elaborate scheme to swindle small investors.

  

Episode 8 - The Prisoner (Part 1)

Ben Matlock accepts the most dangerous case of his career when he agrees to defend an inmate accused of murder – before a kangaroo court in a riot-torn prison.

  

Episode 9 - The Prisoner (Part 2)

Matlock must protect his own life while he’s in prison trying to defend his client. In the concluding episode, Matlock stirs things up when he finds the murder weapon. Meanwhile, Conrad tries to unravel the prison murder plot from outside the walls.

  

Episode 10 - The Fugitive

Ben Matlock is left with a lot of questions and no answers when his client, Drew Carey, bolts from the courtroom during a preliminary hearing for murder. Convinced he is being framed and determined to prove his innocence, Carey desperately attempts to stay one step ahead of police – and Matlock, while he recklessly conducts his own investigation.

  

Episode 11 - The Buddies

A deathbed letter from an old friend puts the life of Ben Matlock in peril when he feels morally obligated to reopen a murder case more than three decades old. Unfortunately, the logical suspects are also three long-time friends, the Pastor James Hubert, Dr. Lucas Sinclair and political powerhouse Assembly man Bud Carlson.

  

Episode 12 - The Scrooge

The senseless murder of a toy store owner not only clouds the Christmas spirit, but threatens an annual party and gifts of toys to local orphans. Ben Matlock reluctantly agrees to defend the victim’s partner, Steve Abbot, but it isn’t easy. Not only is Matlock’s client a scrooge-like businessman, but the list of other possible suspects is awesome.

  

Episode 13 - The Witness

Ben Matlock gives his assistant, Michelle Thomas, her toughest courtroom assignment... breaking down the eyewitness testimony of a former law classmate, Sandra Townsend, in a brutal murder case.

  

Episode 14 - The Student

A philandering college professor is murdered in his classroom and Marcy Hansen is the prime suspect, having announced her pregnancy in an argument before witnesses. Ben Matlock has a difficult problem with the defense for a number of reasons.

  

Episode 15 - The Talk Show

Ben Matlock and Michelle Thomas are exposed to a quick course in trash television when a vicious talk show host, Don Galloway, humiliates three prominent women to boost his ratings. When Galloway is murdered and an innocent associate accused of the crime, Ben and Michelle attempt to unravel a cryptic, electronic clue to expose his killer.

  

Episode 16 - The Victim

Ben Matlock is convinced that Alex Gordon, a paraplegic, murdered his wife and framed his business partner, Bret Howell, for the crime. The difficulty lies in proving the physically challenged man was capable of accomplishing an act requiring great physical strength and outstanding agility.

  

Episode 17 - The Kidnapper

Ben Matlock is kidnapped and threatened by an unknown person, or persons, who may be seeking revenge for sending them to prison. Michelle Thomas and Conrad McMasters desperately search Matlock’s recently computerized case histories in an attempt to match bits of information which could reveal the kidnapper’s motive and identity.

  

Episode 18 - The Informer (Part 1)

Ben Matlock becomes involved in a mob blackmail scheme when he defends a famous criminal lawyer, David O’Malley, accused of murdering an underworld kingpin. Matlock is also confronted with problems from his savvy client who attempts to secretly choreograph the trial for a quick and favorable verdict.

  

Episode 19 - The Informer (Part 2)

In the conclusion of this exciting two-part story, Matlock must pull out all the stops to keep his client, David O’Malley, a famed criminal lawyer in his own right, inline, and the jury on his side. Meanwhile Conrad races against time to track down an informer that will crack the case.

  

Episode 20 - The D.A.

Julie March is terrified by a mysterious man following a lurid murder trial. Publicly threatened by the convicted man’s brother, Rick Biloit, Julie reluctantly accepts Ben Matlock’s offer to become his house guest until she is out of harm's way.

  

Episode 21 - The Blackmailer

Political cartoonist Ronald Winfield is murdered when he exposes a Senator's infidelity through his comic strip. Matlock agrees to defend Senator Dolan against the charges despite the fact his client is convinced he caused the artist’s death.

  

Episode 22 - The Cookie Monster

Ben Matlock investigates when a friend, Bobby Neil, is accused of murdering a cookie queen who was out to crumble her competitors with a hostile takeover.
