Season 5 Episode Guide

Episode 1 - Scotland

In this episode of Parts Unknown, we first visit the city of Glasgow - with a population of over 2 million when counting the surrounding towns are taken into account. One of the biggest cities in the (re)United Kingdom by population, it remains one of the nation's key economic centers outside London.
Episode 2 - South Korea

After eight years, Tony returns to South Korea. And this time, he’s no stranger to kimchi. But just as Tony has changed, so has Korea. There aren’t many comparisons to Korea’s stratospheric rise over the last decade. The republic was one of the world’s poorest in the 1960s, but today it has the world’s 12th-largest economy in terms of purchasing power.
Episode 3 - Miami

Miami is a city in constant flux. Tourists come to South Beach to party, soak up rays and enjoy some public displays of partial nudity and then leave slightly more leathery. People from all over Latin America come to live, work, and build communities. Life long residents in places like Liberty City and Overtown look on in disbelief as the boom and bust economy passes them over again and again.
Episode 4 - Madagascar

In this episode of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, Tony travels to Madagascar, a place that outsiders understand surprisingly little about. Of course, everyone’s familiar with the animated cartoon, but fewer know that Madagascar is an island nation three hundred miles off the coast of Africa. It’s the fourth largest island in the world—and one of the poorest nations.
Episode 5 - Budapest

Budapest – a bustling city of contradictions. At once young and cutting edge, each and every corner, building, intersection and citizen is still haunted by ghosts of the past. Over the last century, that history has often been a violent one.
Episode 6 - New Jersey

In this episode of Parts Unknown Tony travels back to his homeland, his roots, his favorite state in the union: New Jersey. Part nostalgia, part cautionary tale. Tony makes sure to hit up some NJ classics.
Episode 7 - Hawaii

In this episode of Parts Unknown, Tony explores the other Hawaii, the one that those eight million tourists don’t see when they come to the islands. He discovers the fabric of a true cultural mixing pot where your neighbor could be Korean, Chinese, Samoan, Hawaiian, Caucasian or a mixture of them all.
Episode 8 - Beirut

The first time Tony visited Beirut, it didn't end well. After only a few days of filming the 2006 Israel / Lebanon War broke out and the crew had to be evacuated by the U.S. Marines. Now Tony is back in Beirut, Lebanon's Capitol and largest city, where all the world’s troubles and all the world's good comes together to form a city like no other.
