Episode 1 - Pilot

In the '90s, Chuck Darling and Kelly Carr had dominated the local TV news scene in Pittsburgh. While they had primetime news chemistry on-creen, off-screen Chuck was a bit of a self-centered womanizer, and Kelly a bit of an uptight know-it-all. When Chuck grabbed the chance to move up to a larger market, no tears were shed. But after an embarrassing on-air tirade ended up on the Internet, Chuck found himself on the downswing career-wise. He even questioned whether his lifestyle of chasing women and living in hotels was as exciting as it used to be. So when he gets the call to return to Pittsburgh to reunite with Kelly and try to take the newscast back to No. 1, it's an offer he can't refuse. Back in Pittsburgh, Chuck must adapt to a new, chaotic newsroom. In addition to Kelly, he re-teams with familiar faces including Marsh McGinley, the affable, endlessly inappropriate sports anchor, and Gary Crezyzewski, the perennially put-upon field reporter who always seems to get left out in the cold; and he has a few new coworkers: Ryan Church, the under-qualified, overstressed news director, and Montana Diaz Herrera, the perky, sexy, somewhat inept weather anchor. But perhaps the biggest change is that Kelly is now single mom to 10-year-old Gracie. With ego aplenty, Chuck and his former partner Kelly once made primetime news magic, but they wonder if they can make it happen again.

Episode 2 - Fish Story

When Chuck is given a goldfish as a gift, he feels compelled to prove his caretaking skills and sense of responsibility to Kelly, to show her he has what it takes to take care of a child. Chuck enlists the help of news director Ryan to help him maintain the illusion of a happy, healthy and very much alive goldfish. Meanwhile, as the team searches for more gripping news stories, field reporter Gary Crezyzewski prepares himself for a hands-on police Taser story, and sportscaster Marsh McGinley turns his attention to a magic trick he simply cannot seem to figure out.

Episode 3 - First Supper

Chuck and Kelly seem to be getting on each other's last nerve on- and off-camera. But when Chuck's dinner date is called off, he runs into Kelly and Gracie having dinner at a restaurant near the station and awkwardly joins them for a meal. Chuck and Gracie hit it off - and take a few stabs at Kelly while they're at it - and despite Kelly's disdain, she begins to think that having Chuck around might just be a good thing for Gracie. Back at the station, Marsh generously offers to help Gary create his own news anchor promo reel after his first attempt at a highlights video does not turn out quite the way he had hoped it. Meanwhile, Montana is distraught over her broken relationship, which she learned about on-air, and Ryan has to hide his infatuation for her and collect herself in time for the night's broadcast.

Episode 4 - A Gentleman Always Leads

Chuck runs into some of his old newsroom buddies and overhears them commenting on his fall from fame in Los Angeles. In order to prove he's still got what it takes to be a big network anchor, Chuck tries to manipulate Kelly so that he can cover the lead story that night, knowing his former colleagues will see the broadcast. As the lead story changes back and forth between a missing family in the forest to a large building fire, both Chuck and Kelly surreptitiously try to convince each other which story the other should take. Meanwhile, Montana is upset when Marsh steals her intern to work with him in the sports department, and he offers to find her a replacement. When the new intern is a few decades older than they had expected, Marsh and Montana must figure out how to let him go nicely.

Episode 5 - A Night of Possibilities

When Chuck turns down a dinner invitation from Ryan on a Friday night in order to leave his evening open for possible romance, Kelly accuses him of being selfish and rude. Chuck, pointing out Kelly's strict adherence to order, accuses Kelly of being uptight and rigid. Each determined to prove the other wrong, Chuck reluctantly takes Ryan up on his invitation and attempts to avoid distractions from the opposite sex, while Kelly, trying to shake her uptight image, prepares to accompany Montana on a night out on the town. Meanwhile, Gary copes with carpooling to work with Marsh, who seems to have a lead foot and a penchant for narrowly avoiding disaster at every turn.

Episode 6 - Gracie's Bully

The news team prepares for Gracie's school fieldtrip to WURG, and Kelly informs Chuck that Gracie has been having problems with a class bully. While Kelly wants to handle the situation diplomatically by calling the school principal and holding a conflict resolution session, Chuck feels that Gracie should deal with the bully herself in a more direct - and corporeal - manner. Chuck's paternal instincts seem to rub off on Kelly as she takes matters into her own hands and causes quiet a stir. Meanwhile, Marsh must prove to Gary that he can read "Casey at the Bat" to the children without crying, Montana is outdone by a precocious young weather girl in Gracie's class, and Ryan revisits his awkward elementary school days when he encounters a doppelganger of himself.

Episode 7 - Something's Up There

Kelly's carefully laid plans for Gracie's birthday party fall apart when Montana offers to give the girls makeovers and Chuck insists on buying Gracie's cake. Meanwhile, Gary struggles to make it home on time for his anniversary, but the team's hijinks make his goal nearly impossible. To make matters worse, the entire WURG news team ends up at Kelly's house, cornering a fierce raccoon in Kelly's attic right before Gracie's birthday party is set to begin.

Episode 8 - Cradle to Grave

The team gets word of a former WURG news anchor's passing, and Kelly is surprised to be asked to give the eulogy at the funeral. When Kelly's babysitter cancels at the last minute, Chuck offers to watch Gracie in order to get some bonding time, and Kelly reluctantly agrees. At the services, Chuck and Kelly's team realize the now-deceased anchor had been telling everyone he and Kelly were more than just friends, and they debate letting Kelly in on the secret. Meanwhile, Chuck attempts to entertain the ever-precocious Gracie while distracting her from his bachelor lifestyle.

Episode 9 - Business or Pleasure

When the rival news station's dashing young news anchor asks Kelly out on a date, Chuck cannot help but wonder if the anchor has ulterior motives. Thinking that the rival is trying to steal Kelly from WURG to work for his own station, Chuck butts in to tell him to back off. However, it may be Chuck who needs to back off and accept that someone may be interested in Kelly for reasons other than business. Meanwhile, Gary is assigned to cover a convention for people who wear animal costumes, and Marsh experiments with some original sign-off lines.

Episode 10 - Wall of Fame

When Marsh decides to throw Chuck a surprise party, Chuck and Kelly discover an incriminating photograph on Marsh's wall portraying them in a compromising position in the background and they try to find a way to remove it without anyone's knowledge. Meanwhile, Gary and Ryan stumble into Marsh and Peg's bedroom and are disturbed by what they see.

Episode 11 - Hug & Tell

After Kelly and Chuck finally decide to tell Gracie that Chuck is her father, Kelly gets cold feet. She and Chuck decide to see a therapist to resolve their issues with one another. However, the therapist exposes their pent-up frustrations, complicating their plans to tell Gracie the truth. Meanwhile, Gary is frustrated when he fails to get a hug from everyone's favorite security guard who is known for his daily words of encouragement and hugs.

Episode 12 - 2 Steps Forward 1 Step Back

Chuck and Kelly decide to fess up to Gracie and let her know that Chuck is her father. They recant the tale of the night she was conceived as best they remember.

Episode 13 - The New Boss

When newly appointed WURG station manager Ginger Ko decides to make some unpopular changes to the newsroom, Chuck and Kelly pay her a visit. Despite their intentions to confront her about the proposed changes, Ginger turns on the charm, sending Chuck and Kelly away feeling good about the transition. However, the aftermath from their seemingly innocent exchange causes quite a stir in the newsroom, especially for Ryan, who has to step up and carry out a career-first responsibility. Meanwhile, Gary is apprehensive about booking a cruise with his wife for fear the new boss won't agree to him taking the time off, and Marsh accidentally takes his wife's estrogen pill.

Episode 14 - Chuck & Kelly: Don' It Again

Chuck and Kelly seek the best way to publicly disclose their parenthood, but an unfortunately timed new ad campaign for the station complicates their efforts. Meanwhile, Marsh bestows a gift upon Gary but immediately regrets his generosity.
