Season 1 Episode Guide
Episode 1 - Episode 1George interviews Nina about her childcare qualifications and tells her the younger of her two sons Joe has an illness. She wants a nanny that doesn’t flap, but when Joe and his brother Max come in to talk to Nina, she puts her foot in it by revealing she supports Leicester City. Joe hates Leicester. Months go by, and George gets back in touch to offer Nina the job. Over time Nina gets to meet the whole family, who, over evening meals talk about crabs, dry-cleaning and nuclear war. Nina finishes her letter to her sister telling her she thinks she might be very happy there.

Episode 2 - Episode 2Nina is reading a copy of Shirley Conran’s Lace as Max and Joe play inside a skip on Gloucester Crescent, when she meets someone new. In a letter to her sister Nina muses that she might have met someone, Nunney, but the problem is she’s not sure if she likes him very much. This sets off her off on a quest to find out what exactly makes a great relationship. At Joe’s regular visit to the doctor his eyes are revealed to have no significant deterioration. On the way out Nina and Joe bump into Nunney and Ray, and Ray orders them to stop being so coy and go out on a date!

Episode 3 - Episode 3Nina is looking after Joe as his eyes have become sore. The doctor has instructed him not to get too agitated, but this is proving hard whilst listening to an exciting cricket match on the radio. Instead, Nina tries to get away with reading him a Thomas Hardy book, one Nunney lent her, pretending it’s by his favourite author Enid Blyton. Later Nina helps George pass on their cat to an elderly lady. During the week a series of coincidental encounters with Nunney convince Nina that their relationship must be fated. Joe suddenly becomes very ill that evening and George and Nina rush him to hospital.

Episode 4 - Episode 4Nina has made friends with another nanny who works in the area, Amanda. Amanda is an aspiring actress, and very theatrical. Nina is determined to strike up a friendship with her, after Nunney has revealed he plans to go travelling for his gap year, leaving her behind. Interviews begin to find a replacement carer for Ray, when Nunney goes travelling. Nina sits in. They meet Robber, a supremely unsuitable man that Ray takes a particular shine to. When a suitable replacement cannot be found, Nunney decides to stay at Gloucester Crescent for the time being.

Episode 5 - Episode 5Nina feigns innocence over a dent in George's car. Joe and Max immediately jump to the conclusion that Malcolm must be to blame. The whole family arrive on Malcolm’s doorstep, but Malcolm exposes and is appalled at Nina’s lie, but is even more horrified that the rest of the family believed her. The next day Nina immediately manages to upset the new cleaner Maria Fernanda. George tells her she has three tasks: make it up with Malcolm, make it up with Maria Fernanda, and find her book, and then take her A-Level English Literature exam at the end of the week.
