Episode 1 - Episode 1Sunshine is a "working class suburb" where protagonist Jacob Garang lives. Born in South Sudan, Jacob is an aspiring professional basketballer, a storyline that parallels to the rise of South Sudanese-Australian professional basketballer Thon Maker, who escaped civil war and settled in Perth - the 20-year-old now plays for Milwaukee Bucks.

Episode 2 - Episode 2When a privileged suburban teen is critically assaulted, the blame is quickly laid on a group of young men from Melbourne’s South Sudanese community - jeopardising the dreams of 18-year-old star basketballer Jacob Garang. But the truth is never black and white.

Episode 3 - Episode 3Eddie is the king of Sunshine, coaching the team on a winning streak into the finals – keeping Jacob’s US College basketball dream alive. Their relationship turns sour, however, when Jacob receives a VHS tape from an anonymous sender – the tape’s contents reveal Eddie from his playing days on a racist tirade with a black opponent. A deeply hurt, but pragmatic Jacob elects not to tell his teammates. Eddie’s lack of remorse weighs heavily on a betrayed Jacob, affecting his ability to perform at his best. Zara continues to uncover pieces of the puzzle about the night in question – including Elly Messina’s shoe found in Dazzler’s Ute. The police, however, are on the trail of Deng Deng. It seems only two people can save him: his girlfriend Nyagua, whose strict father would then discover their secret rendezvous and forbid all further contact; or Jacob, who drove Elly Messina in the stolen Porsche that fateful night. Jacob earns his golden opportunity to impress the US Talent Scout. But will Elly Messina waking up from her coma place his future in jeopardy?

Episode 4 - Episode 4Relations between Jacob and Eddie remain strained amid premiership celebrations in Sunshine. The arrival in town of a Talent Scout from the US convinces Eddie that he must face up to the mistake from his past in order to heal the wounded Jacob and free him to perform at his best. Eddie reveals all at the team’s Trophy Night and resigns in disgrace as coach. Deng Deng realizes that Jacob has kept Eddie’s racist comments secret from his teammates and questions his friend’s desperation to achieve his goal at any price. In seeking to prevent Jacob’s unjust charge and conviction, Zara helps to bring down the person responsible for Elly’s near-fatal injury. Released from police custody, Jacob stars in the State Championships Play-Off for his shot at selection for the US College Basketball Scholarship. Will he make it to America to pursue his dream?
