Episode 1 - Episode 1

Three of the UK's most renowned chefs look for a young student to take under their wing. Michelin-starred chef Tom Kitchin begins his search at Perth College in Scotland where he himself trained. He puts four of the college's best students to the test; three students will go through to the next stage.

  

Episode 2 - Episode 2

Michelin-starred chef Tom Kitchin continues his quest as he meets three more of his old catering college's best students. Returning to where he trained, Perth College in Scotland, Tom sets each aspiring chef a simple test to assess their level of skill, their instinct in the kitchen and more importantly what kind of bond he can potentially develop with them.

Michelin-starred chef Tom Kitchin continues his search. In his last day at Perth College in Scotland where he himself trained, Tom puts his five chosen students through their paces as he decides who will continue under his tutelage.

  

Episode 4 - Episode 4

The fourth episode continues with Michelin-starred chef Tom Kitchin's search as he takes his four shortlisted students from his old catering college in Perth to cook at the exclusive venue just outside Edinburgh, Melville Castle. At the castle, the aspiring young chefs are put to the test as Tom introduces them to his favourite ingredients, Scottish game.

  

Episode 5 - Episode 5

Michelin-starred chef Tom Kitchin has been on a search for a student with the promise that he can help rise to the challenge of being his apprentice. He has spent time at his old catering college in Perth and from seven hopefuls he is now down to the best three. With bonds beginning to form, the students are invited to cook at the Kitchin, Tom's Michelin-starred Edinburgh restaurant.

Top chef in Italian cuisine Theo Randall begins his search as he returns to Brooklands College in Surrey where he himself trained. He meets three of the college's best students as he sets them a simple test to assess their level of skill, their instinct in the kitchen and, more importantly, what kind of bond he could potentially develop with them.

  

Episode 7 - Episode 7

Theo Randall continues his quest as he meets four more of his old catering college's best students. Returning to where he trained - Brooklands College in Surrey - Theo sets each aspiring chef a simple test to assess their enthusiasm and level of skill. The students have the ingredients from his Italian antipasti sharing platter and must show their knowledge of flavour combinations and preparation.

Top chef in Italian cuisine Theo Randall continues his search. He is looking for someone with the same feeling about food as he has - someone who shares his passion and vision. In his last day at Brooklands College in Surrey, Theo puts the five remaining students through their paces by challenging them to cook their favourite dishes before suggesting how he would improve them.

Top chef in Italian cuisine Theo Randall takes his four shortlisted students from his old catering college in Surrey to cook at Natoora in south-east London and puts them through their paces, as they create their own rustic Italian dishes for rival chefs Michel Roux Jr and Tom Kitchin.

  

Episode 10 - Episode 10

All week top chef Theo Randall has been on a search for a student with the promise that he can help rise to the challenge of being his apprentice. With bonds beginning to form, the three chosen students are invited to cook at Theo Randall's restaurant at The InterContinental. Here they are each challenged to cook one of his signature dishes for special lunch service.

This time, Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux Jr begins his search, travelling to the College of Food at University College Birmingham, which has close ties to the Roux family. Michel meets four of the college's best students as he sets them a simple test to assess their level of skill, their instinct in the kitchen and, more importantly, what kind of bond he can potentially develop with them.

Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux Jr continues his quest as he meets three more students from the College of Food at University College Birmingham. First, Michel sets each aspiring chef a simple test - to cook the perfect omelette - to assess their level of skill, their instinct in the kitchen and, more importantly, what kind of bond he can potentially develop with them.

  

Episode 13 - Episode 13

Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux Jr continues his search. It is his last day at University College Birmingham - and Michel puts his five chosen students through their paces as he decides who will continue under his tutelage. Showing that the smallest change can make the difference between good and outstanding food, Michel gives the young chefs food for thought.

  

Episode 14 - Episode 14

Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux Jr takes his four shortlisted students from the College of Food at University College Birmingham to cook at the exclusive Cliveden House in Berkshire - where back in the 1950s, Michel's father, the legendary Albert Roux, worked for the wealthy Astor family as a kitchen hand. It was from these humble beginnings that the Roux cooking dynasty in the UK was built.

  

Episode 15 - Episode 15

Cookery competition. With bonds beginning to form, Michel Roux Jr's students are invited to cook at a central London kitchen, where they are each challenged to cook one of Michel's signature dishes for a special lunch service attended by Michel's closest and most trusted restaurant colleagues. And Michel has not chosen the simplest options from his menu.

  

Episode 16 - Episode 16

Cookery competition. Tom Kitchin is looking for a protege who can absorb his style of modern Scottish cooking, using the best of Scottish ingredients and combining them with classic French cookery techniques. Tom must decide whom to choose as his protege, so he asks two young students to cook dishes by his own mentor, Pierre Koffmann.

  

Episode 17 - Episode 17

Theo Randall is looking for a protege who can absorb his style of Italian cooking. From the age of 21, he worked alongside the great Ruth Rogers and Rose Grey at the groundbreaking River Cafe in west London. Theo needs a protege who can understand this style of food, so he asks the students to cook two iconic River Cafe dishes before giving them one final chance to impress.

  

Episode 18 - Episode 18

Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux Jr must decide who his protege will be. From an original group of seven young students from University College Birmingham, Michel is resting his hopes on just two. It is crucial to Michel that his protege understands the Rouxs' classic French roots, so he asks the two students to begin by cooking two of his father Albert's iconic recipes

  

Episode 19 - Episode 19

The mentors and their proteges all gather for the first time in London at St Ermin's Hotel, on the eve of the final. They have just one task - to devise and cook a three-course menu worthy of being served at the hotel in the final. Each protege must cook a menu that reflects what they have learned from their mentors. The pressure is on.

  

Episode 20 - Episode 20

It is the grand final of the competition. Tom, Theo and Michel have all selected their proteges and now they must compete against each other, cooking for the legendary chefs who have guided their mentor's own careers - Tom's mentor, Pierre Koffmann, Michel's, his father Albert Roux, and Theo's mentor, Ruth Rogers. Only one can come out on top.
