Episode 1 - Episode 1On the brink of adulthood, Linda Radlett and her beloved cousin Fanny Logan are stuck in the countryside, impatiently waiting for life to begin so they can escape the confines of Alconleigh. Linda, who has lived her life under the terrifying regime of Uncle Matthew, dreams of excitement and adventure. But Fanny, abandoned by her mother and raised by her Aunt Emily, is more concerned with comfort and stability. When their glamorous neighbour Lord Merlin brings Tony Kroesig to their coming out ball, Linda falls hopelessly in love with him. However, sensing Fanny's disapproval of the match, it's not long before Linda pushes Fanny away and leaves her beloved cousin feeling left behind.

Episode 2 - Episode 2Although both Linda and Fanny are now married, their lives couldn't be more different. Fanny embraces motherhood and tries to fulfil her role as a 'good' wife to Alfred. Meanwhile, Linda's marriage to Tony quickly begins to disintegrate as she throws herself into a glamorous lifestyle, partying until dawn. However, when Linda is pulled away by an enigmatic stranger, will she make a drastic change to start a new life?

Episode 3 - Episode 3Fanny is put out to find that Linda has once again fallen head over heels in love, and is openly living as Fabrice de Sauveterre's mistress. However, when war breaks out and threatens to tear Europe apart, will Linda and Fanny be able to reconcile before it's too late?
