Episode 2 - Episode 2Walter Hartright was startled by the resemblance of Laura Fairlie to the woman in white whose identity he has discovered. Her name is Anne Catherick. Now Walter is leaving Limmeridge as he and Laura have fallen in love, but she is pledged to marry Sir Percival Glyde.

Episode 3 - Episode 3Walter Hartright has left England and Laura has married Sir Percival Glyde, who is trying to cheat her out of her fortune: Marian has written for help to her lawyer in London, but fears Count Fosco has intercepted her letter.

Episode 4 - Episode 4Overheard by Marian, Glyde has confessed to Fosco he is deeply in debt and in mortal terror that Anne Catherick will reveal his deadly secret. Marian fell seriously ill before she could take action. As she lay helpless, Fosco set up his intricate plot to steal Laura's fortune.
