Season 2 Episode Guide

Episode 1 - Alias Darrin Stephens

Samantha's Aunt Clara arrives on the Stephens' first anniversary with presents for Samantha and Darrin. Casting a spell to adjust a checkered cap she has given Darrin, Aunt Clara uses the wrong words and turns Darrin into a chimpanzee. Unable to remember how to remove the spell, Aunt Clara goes home to look for the formula.

  

Episode 2 - A Very Special Delivery

Learning that he is about to become a father, Darrin waits on Samantha hand and foot. Then Larry Tate convinces him that all women would make a career out of having a baby if you allowed them to. He gives Darrin a book on the subject which states that the more active the mother, the happier she will be, and the healthier the child. Darrin returns home completely convinced. Endora is infuriated when she hears Darrin ordering Samantha to do chores around the house.

  

Episode 3 - We're In for a Bad Spell

When strange things begin happening to Adam Newlarkin, a friend of Darrin's, Aunt Clara tells Samantha he has inherited the spell placed by a witch on his ancestor who was a judge in Salem two hundred years before. Aunt Clara adds that unless Adam follows the antidote for the spell strictly, he will be branded a thief. The Stephens learn that Adam has been hired by a local bank. Samantha and Darrin manage to get Adam to kiss a dog, the first step. With Aunt Clara's help, Darrin dunks Adam in a pool three times. They have trouble persuading him to ride through town shouting praise of witches, which is the final step.

  

Episode 4 - My Grandson, the Warlock

Phoning from London, the Tates inform the Stephens that their governess has been taken ill. They ask Darrin and Samantha to care for the child until they return. Gladys Kravitz sees them leaving the house and returning with a baby. Assuming the Stephens' baby has arrived, Gladys congratulates Maurice, Samantha's father, on the birth of his grandson. Maurice is shocked to find the baby is not being taught witchcraft. He flies away with the child to the Warlock?s Club in London.

  

Episode 5 - The Joker Is a Card

Samantha arranges a meeting between Darrin and her mother which she hopes will settle their differences. A series of minor accidents sets Darrin and Endora accusing each other of being practical pokers. Realizing someone else is responsible, Samantha uncovers a serving dish and reveals her Uncle Arthur, who dotes on practical jokes. Infuriated by Darrin's uproarious appreciation of Uncle Arthur, Endora plants a Beatles hairdo on Darrin.

  

Episode 6 - Take Two Aspirins and Half a Pint of Porpoise Milk

While Howard Norton shows the Stephens a black Peruvian rose, Samantha tells Darrin she feels ill and has lost her witchcraft. The doctor tells Samantha that her health is perfect. Gladys sees the doctor's car and brings some chicken soup. When square green spots appear on Samantha's face, Abner is sure the chicken soup is responsible. Aunt Clara arrives and lists the ingredients for a remedy.

  

Episode 7 - Trick or Treat

Despite Endora's demand that Samantha accompany her to a witches celebration of Halloween, Darrin insists that his wife stay at home to entertain Louise and Larry Tate, Jack Rogers, a client, and his wife, Phyllis. Disguising herself as a child in a gypsy costume, Endora hexes Darrin with a spell that will gradually turn him into a werewolf. When Samantha demands that her mother remove the spell, Endora tells her she can't remember the words.

  

Episode 8 - The Very Informal Dress

Larry Tate invites Samantha and Darrin to a buffet for prospective client Charles Barlow. When they complain about the condition of their clothes, Aunt Clara uses magic to produce a dress for Samantha and a new suit for Darrin, who invites her along to the affair. Once there, Aunt Clara removes a fire hydrant so Darrin can park. At the party, Samantha?s dress begins to vanish and Aunt Clara's other magical efforts begin to disintegrate.

  

Episode 9 - And Then I Wrote

Dr. Passmore, psychiatrist at a rest home, tells Samantha his patients would like to do something to mark the Centennial of the End of the War Between the States. Samantha tells him Darrin will publicize the affair. Annoyed, Darrin tells Passmore Samantha will write a script for the pageant. Darrin criticizes Samantha's wooden characters. Taking Endora's advice, Samantha uses magic to bring her characters to life, so she can describe them. Soon Confederate Captain Corcoran, Violet, a beautiful Yankee, and an Indian, added for a neutral touch, are wandering around the Stephens' home.

  

Episode 10 - Junior Executive

Darrin is struggling to create an advertising campaign for a toy ship model manufactured by Mr. Herding. When Samantha wonders whether the Stephens ' baby will look like his father, Endora turns Darrin into an eight-year-old. Returned to normal, Darrin goes to his office. Samantha repeats a disparaging remark Darrin made about Endora. Piqued, Endora turns Darrin into a boy at his office. Mr. Harding sees Darrin and compli-ments Larry on hiring a child to devise a campaign for a toy.

  

Episode 11 - Aunt Clara's Old Flame

Aunt Clara tells Samantha and Endora she is hiding from warlock Hedley Partridge, because she fears her old beau will discover her magic no longer works. Seeing in Hedley a husband for Aunt Clara, who has become a problem, Endora invites him to the Stephens home. Samantha decides to make sure Aunt Clara's tricks work. Unaware of this, Aunt Clara is sure her gift is returned when she matches all of Hedley's tricks. When Samantha goes out of the room, Aunt Clara tries to follow Hedley's ro-mantic suggestion that they turn themselves into nightingales, but Hedley becomes an animal, while Aunt Clara's lower half disappears.

  

Episode 12 - A Strange Little Visitor

Walter and Margaret Brocken ask Samantha to keep their son Merle, a ten year old warlock, while they attend a witches con-vention. When Merle agrees not to do any magic before Darrin, Samantha invites him to stay. Meanwhile, Larry Tate asks Darrin to keep an expensive necklace, a birthday present for. his wife, at the Stephens home. Darrin goes to Merle's room, where the young warlock has turned a hairbrush into a model fire engine, which flashes with electric shocks when Darrin touches it. Darrin shouts with pain until Merle turns off the current. Samantha is now forced to disclose that Merle is a warlock.

  

Episode 13 - My Boss, the Teddy Bear

Darrin tells Endora he is sure Larry Tate wouldn't let him attend a wedding out of town with Samantha. Darrin is annoyed when Endora suggests changing Larry into an inanimate object. Later, after getting Larry's permission to take Samantha and Darrin to the wedding, Endora learns that Larry has been unable to find a teddy bear for his son, and brings one to his office. When Darrin, who is working up a campaign to sell honey for Mr. Harper, sees the toy, he is sure it is Larry.

  

Episode 14 - Speak the Truth

Endora tells Samantha there would be instant chaos if human beings, including Darrin, were to tell the truth and later on, delivers a statuette to Darrin's office. Everyone coming within its range, except Samantha, is forced to tell the truth. The statuette causes several eruptions between Darrin, his secretary and Larry Tate. Things really break wide open at the Stephens home when Louise and Larry Tate arrive with agency client, Ed Hotchkiss and his wife, Frances.

Episode 16 - The Magic Cabin

When Darrin bogs down while creating a new ad campaign, Larry persuades the Stephens to stay at his woodland cabin. Larry hasn't seen the place for a few years and has put it up for sale. The cabin proves to be a shack. Darrin refuses to allow Samantha to use magic to make it habitable. but changes his mind when a storm breaks out. Samantha gives the interior a luxurious transformation. Meanwhile, Charles and Alice Mac-Bain see Larry's ad. Apprehensively, Larry sends them to inspect the cabin. Arriving while the Stephens are out, the MacBains are elated by Samantha's handiwork. Charles phones Larry to purchase the cabin.

  

Episode 17 - Maid to Order

Samantha agrees to hire a maid after Darrin orders her to give up all housework until their child is born. The demands of the first applicants are impossible to meet. Then Naomi Hogan impresses Samantha when she confesses her skill at preparing inedible food and penchant for breaking dishes. Telling Samantha she needs a job to pay for her son's tuition at medical school, Naomi adds she'll sign a note with interest to pay for anything she breaks. Samantha hires her. Unfortunately, the Stephens have invited Larry and Louise Tate to dinner that night. At dinnertime, Samantha finds the kitchen in a shambles.

  

Episode 18 - And Then There Were Three

Samantha has a baby girl. Trouble begins for Nurse Kelton when Endora names the baby Tabitha against the parents' wishes. When Darrin doubts that the baby will grow up to look like Samantha, Endora proposes to turn the baby into a grown-up so he can see. Darrin forbids her to do so. Meanwhile, Samantha's cousin, Serena, who resembles Samantha, visits the hospital. Shortly after, Endora carries the baby from the nursery.. Darrin sees Serena and feels she resembles someone he knows. Finding the baby missing, Darrin is sure Endora's magic .has been at work and Serena is his daughter, grown up.

  

Episode 19 - My Baby, the Tycoon

Gladys and Abner Kravitz give Tabitha a share of stock bought through Gladys' cousin, a broker. The stock rises rapidly. Darrin, unsure whether Tabitha inherits Samantha's witchcraft, feels the baby maybe responsible. He puts the stock page in front of her and calling Gladys' cousin, buys a share of stock on which the baby's finger rested. When that stock rises, the broker tells Gladys to try to get some tips from Darrin. Gladys and Abner go to the Stephens' home.

  

Episode 20 - Samantha Meets the Folks (Recut Version of Ep #14)

Episode 21 - Fastest Gun On Madison Avenue

Joe Kovack makes a play for Samantha in a restaurant. Darrin rushes to her defense. Realizing Darrin faces certain slaughter, Samantha twitches her nose and Joe falls to the floor, Since Joe is Number One contender for the heavyweight title, newspapers hail Darrin as a coming champ. Darrin pleads with Samantha to let him fight, his own battles. Then, Joe and his Manager, trying to regain a crack at a lucrative championship bout, approach Darrin with a plan for a make-believe bout in which Joe pretends to knock Darrin out.

  

Episode 22 - The Dancing Bear

Darrin's parents, Frank and Phyllis Stephens, come to see Tabitha. Learning Endora will also be there, Darrin makes her swear there is nothing funny about the toy bear she has brought for the baby. Endora and Mrs. Stephens take an immediate dis-like to each other. Mrs. Stephens has brought a toy identical to Endora's. Endora uses witchcraft to make her bear dance. Tabitha falls in love with the dancing bear and refuses the other.

  

Episode 23 - Double Tate

For his birthday, Endora decides to make three of Darrin's wishes come true. Unaware of the gift, Darrin gets immediate elevator service in his office building, and they sees a bikini--clad beauty. An important client, Randolph Turgeon, insists on seeing Larry Tate, who is in Chicago. Wishing he were Larry for just one day, Darrin immediately turns into his boss. Turgeon introduces Darrin-Larry to his niece, Joyce, who wants a job with the agency.

  

Episode 24 - Samantha the Dressmaker

Samantha tries unsuccessfully to make her own dress for an affair at the home of an agency client, J.T. Glendon. Whisking Samantha to Paris, Endora takes her to the showroom of Aubert, a couturier who has failed in his attempts to break into the American market. Back home, Samantha uses magic to duplicate an Aubert original. Doris, J.T,'s wife admires the dress. Suddenly. Samantha finds herself committed to making dresses for Doris, J.T.'s sister, Ethel, and Gladys Kravitz.

  

Episode 25 - The Horse's Mouth

A horse named Dalleyrand escapes from the horse trailer of Jack Spindler in front of the Stephens home. Unable to talk to the horse, Samantha turns her into a women named Dolly. Dolly tells Samantha she has forced to set a fast pace and tire the horses out so her sister, Adorable Diane, can win. Samantha invites Dolly to rest up at the Stephens home. Darrin arrives with Gus Walters, who needs money to market a new invention. Dolly suggests they go to the track where she can make money for him by picking winners. Samantha shocks Darrin when she tells him- Gus can't lose because Dolly really is a racehorse.

  

Episode 26 - Baby's First Paragraph

Samantha, has a lunch date with Darrin and an important client. She can't get a baby sitter and knows Darrin doesn't want Endora to be alone with Tabitha. Endora, promising not to use any magic, insists on staying with Tabitha and Samantha leaves. Gladys Kravitz comes over with her nephew Edgar, a baby about Tabitha's age. Annoyed by Gladys' bragging how smart Edgar is, Endora uses magic to make Tabitha talk. Later Endora leaves the house after an argument with Darrin about the incident. Meanwhile, Gladys spreads the story and reporters come to the house to interview Tabitha.

  

Episode 27 - The Leprechaun

Darrin reacts violently when he finds Brian O'Brian, a sprightly leprechaun, a guest in his home. Samantha tells him that Brian is not her relative but the leprechaun of Darrin's family. Brian reveals he has come to recover his pot of gold which was hidden in a fireplace brought to America by James Dennis Robinson. Darrin finds that Robinson owns a company whose account would be a great asset to Darrin's agency. Brian breaks into Robinson's house to retrieve the gold and is arrested. Darrin allows Samantha to use her magic to get Brian out of jail. Brian pleads with Samantha to help him recover his pot of gold which will restore his lost powers.

  

Episode 28 - Double Split

Darrin asks Samantha to play up to the daughter of J. Kabaker, an important client. Samantha tries to be nice, but the girl is a nasty snob. Unable to take any more, Samantha twitches her nose and a canapé hits the girl in the face. At home, the Stephens get into an argument about the incident. However, at the office the next day, when Larry criticizes Samantha, Darrin quits his job. He tells Samantha he has another job lined up at Ames Advertising. Samantha and Louise Tate decide to bring Larry and Darrin together again, and feel the best way to do this is to give them a common enemy. Samantha makes sure Darrin doesn't get the other job. Then, following Samantha's plan, both wives start arguments with their husbands. Darrin and Larry head for their club, where Samantha arranges for them to share the same room. Both men confess they have acted foolishly and go home. Samantha admits she used magic to brig about the happy reunions but Darrin tells her he couldn't care less.

  

Episode 29 - Disappearing Samantha

Darrin is assigned to publicize Osgood Rightmire, who makes a career of debunking witchcraft. The Stephens attend a lecture given by Osgood with Louise and Larry Tate. When Rightmire dramatically offers himself as a target for any witch, Samantha twitches her nose. Rightmire trips, setting off a series of mishaps. Rightmire pronounces an incantation which he asserts would cause any witch to disappear, if there were such things.

  

Episode 30 - Follow That Witch, Pt. 1

Harriet, Abner's sister, is keeping house for him while Gladys is away. She finds that Gladys' stories of Samantha's unusual activities are true. Meanwhile Darrin is winding up a deal to handle advertising for the Robbins Baby-Food Company. Mr. Robbins, the president, agrees with his assistant, George Barkley, that the final decision should be deferred. Believing that anyone working on their account should be completely whole-some, Barkley, on his own, has hired Charlie Leach, a private detective, to shadow Darrin.

  

Episode 31 - Follow That Witch, Pt. 2

George Barkley, assistant to the president of the Robbins Baby Food Company, has hired Charlie Leach to check on Samantha. Discovering Samantha is a witch, Leach threatens to expose her unless she makes him a rich man. Learning that Leach's report can cost Darrin the account, Samantha produces a new car for Leach and transforms his sleazy apartment into a luxurious home. Darrin is furious when he learns what Leach has been up to. He decides to tell Robbins and Barkley his company doesn't want their account. He goes to the meeting with Samantha.

  

Episode 32 - A Bum Raps

Leaving for the office, Darrin reminds Samantha that his eccentric Uncle Albert is arriving that day. Meanwhile, Horace and William, two vaudevillians turned con artists, are prowling the neighborhood. Horace comes to the Stephens' door and Saman-tha welcomes him as Uncle Albert. When the real Uncle Albert arrives, Horace tells him the Stephens have moved. Touched by Samantha's kindness, Horace tells William he doesn't want to go through with their plan to rob the house. Later, Horace pockets Harriet Kravitz' watch. He is seen by Samantha, who uses magic to return the watch to Harriet.

  

Episode 33 - Divided He Falls

The Stephens' long deferred vacation is postponed once more when Larry Tate pleads with Darrin to work on an important campaign for the Stern Chemical Company. Always critical of her son-in-law, Endora splits Darrin into identical twins: #l, hard-working Darrin, and #2, the epitome of his fun-loving side. Endora then convinces Samantha that at least one half of Darrin deserves a vacation. Telling Darrin #1 she is going on vacation with her mother, Samantha leaves for Miami with Darrin #2. At the office, Darrin #1 staggers Larry and company president Sanford Stern with his capacity for hard concentrated work.

  

Episode 34 - Man's Best Friend

Darrin plans a celebration because Samantha hasn't used witchcraft for almost a month. Then Rodney, a neurotic warlock, appears. Expressing his love for Samantha, he demands that she run away with him. Samantha, after trying unsuccessfully to convince Rodney that she loves Darrin, forces him to leave. Darrin arrives home with a shaggy brown dog. Samantha discovers the dog is really Rodney. Samantha's statement that her marriage is based on mutual trust inspires Rodney with a plan to break up the Stephens marriage.

  

Episode 35 - The Catnapper

Samantha derides Endora's statement that Darrin gives evidence of interest in another woman. Meanwhile, Charlie Leach, an unscrupulous private eye, discovers Endora and Samantha are both witches. He tells Charmaine, his wife, that he is going to cash in on his find. Samantha and Endora see Darrin with Toni Devlin, an attractive client. Samantha insists it is a business lunch.

  

Episode 36 - What Every Young Man Should Know

Samantha and Darrin feel he might not have married her if hew knew she was a witch. With Samantha's permission, Endora sends husband and wife back into the past. Darrin at first runs away when Samantha proves she is a witch. When Darrin persuades her she hasn't seen the true picture, Samantha makes Endora con-tinue the experiment. Learning that Samantha's powers could make his company the most successful in the country, Larry Tate is all in favor of the marriage.

  

Episode 37 - The Girl With the Golden Nose

Darrin feels he isn't making any progress in his career. He tells Samantha that Larry Tate has refused to allow him to handle Waterhouse and Co., an important new account. However, when Tate announces that Darrin will handle the account, Darrin feels Samantha used magic on Larry. Darrin berates Samantha and deter-mines to lose the account. When Mr. Waterhouse, a conservative tycoon arrives, Darrin adopts a breezy, wise-cracking, approach. Darrin is surprised when Waterhouse declares Darrin's fresh touch is just what his product needs.

  

Episode 38 - Prodigy

The Stephens are invited to the Kravitz home to meet Louis Gruber, Gladys' brother. Twenty six years before, at the age of eight, when Louis made his debut as a violinist at Carnegie Hall, his knickers fell down. Since then, Louis has shunned playing in public. Abner claims he is just a moocher. When Louis suddenly begins to play, Samantha and Darrin realize he is a brilliant musician. Samantha arranges for him to play at a hospital benefit.
