Episode 1 - Homecoming

As the frozen landscape of the Arctic melts away, the Alaskans enjoy easier travel and more resources. They take advantage by heading out to hunt migrating birds, securing their camps to protect them from flooding, and boating the open waterways to harvest meat and fur.

  

Episode 2 - New Territory

During the Arctic spring, Alaskans take advantage of the warm weather and complete tasks that are impossible in the winter months. Birds present an opportunity for the first fresh meat of the season, while the thawed, flowing rivers present an opportunity for harvesting fur.

  

Episode 3 - Facing Fears

A brief window of opportunity opens for Alaskans to make their lives easier when winter returns. From the construction of buildings that will aid in the growing and storing of food, to hunting that will keep their bellies full, and to the exploration of new territory that may be the key to untapped resources, these pioneers take full advantage of the endless daylight to survive and thrive during the Arctic summer.

  

Episode 4 - To Catch a King

Throughout the summer, Alaskans work tirelessly to prepare for the long winter ahead. Fish migrate through the land's thawed waterways, promising sustenance to those who are lucky enough to intercept them while they have the chance. The long days give Alaskans the opportunity to innovate new ways of harvesting resources more efficiently, and the endless sunlight affords them the ability to explore the tundra to gain knowledge of the landscape.

  

Episode 5 - The Intruder

With the Arctic summer in full swing, and Alaskans must take advantage of the endless sunlight to harvest the season's resources, or their winter preparation is at stake. Heading out into the wild and scouting for areas to hunt and fish is a priority this time of year, despite the dangers of the currents or the threats from hungry predators. This time of year, coming home emptyhanded is not an option.

  

Episode 6 - Heavy Load

With fall approaching, the race is on to complete crucial tasks in Alaska. The king salmon run provides an opportunity to stockpile food for winter. Warm temperatures allow for outdoor physical training to sharpen the mind and body for survival. Gardening and building projects must be accomplished before the impending freeze, and summer's prime time for ecotourism brings in critical revenue for Arctic residents.

As the Arctic summer turns to fall and temperatures begin their decline, Alaskan ingenuity assists in securing materials for the coming freeze. To prepare for the winter ahead, bush-dwellers brave dangerous encounters with hungry predators while hunting in the remote mountains, harvest resources along the waterways, rebuild equipment to provide vital food, and gather life-enhancing foods in the surrounding wilderness.

  

Episode 8 - Close Encounter

With the warm season drawing to a close, Alaskans travel by boat and by foot to stockpile enough resources to sustain through the cold winter months that lie ahead. They must take advantage of the migrating moose and fish, before the rivers freeze completely and dark winter sets in for the next several months. But caution is paramount, as they aren't the only ones looking for food in the Arctic.
