Episode 1 - By The Numbers

Fred gets that old feeling -- not love... the numbers!! He's sure he's dreamed up a winner, but Lamont refuses to let him place a bet. But Fred may not be the only loser.

  

Episode 2 - Whiplash

After Fred has an accident in the pick-up truck, he decides he is suffering from whiplash. Fred's friend Bubba (Don Bexley) convinces him he is sitting on a gold mine. Lamont, on the other hand, is sure his father is faking and insists he ignore Bubba's advice.

  

Episode 3 - The Dowry

Fred's cousin (Albert Reed) and his new bride (Marguerite Ray) visit from St. Louis with the idea of finding a husband for his cousin's new stepdaughter. When Fred learns there's a $10,000 dowry involved, he schemes to get Lamont to ask for her hand in marriage.

  

Episode 4 - Jealousy

Invited to dinner at the Sanford home, Fred's fiancée Donna brings along a patient who is in her care. Fred is shocked when the man, apparently a healthy specimen, makes it obvious he thinks of Donna as more than a nurse. Roscoe Lee Browne guests as Osgood Wilcox, Donna's patient and Fred's rival.

  

Episode 5 - Tooth or Consequences

When Fred's attempt to have a hypnotist cure his toothache fails, Lamont insists his "chicken" father go to the free clinic. Resigned to his fate, Fred goes with Lamont, but it's Lamont who is in for the unexpected medical complication -- his "bigoted" father insists on being treated by a white dentist.

  

Episode 6 - Card Sharps

Fred is convinced that Lamont's card-playing buddies are trying to sock it to him for every cent he's got, but Lamont won't believe him. Fred's attempts at signaling Lamont create nothing but constant turmoil. Thalmus Rasulala, David Moses and Ron Glass appear as Lamont's friends

  

Episode 7 - Have Gun, Will Sell

Lamont and his friend Rollo (Nathaniel Taylor) scare off a burglar in the Sanford house, but he leaves something behind -- a gun. Rollo convinces Fred and Lamont that they could make some money if they pawn the gun, but the scheme explodes.

  

Episode 8 - The Puerto Ricans Are Coming!

Fred is upset because his new neighbor is opening a competing junkyard -- but he's beside himself when he learns the neighbor is Puerto Rican. Fred vows to remedy the situation, over the strong objections of Lamont, who has become Julio's (Gregory Sierra) friend.

  

Episode 9 - The Shootout

When Lamont brings home an antique gun, Fred pulls the trigger and is surprised to learn the gun was loaded. Fred has just had an argument with his neighbor Herman Goldstein (Leo Fuchs) and the bullet careens through the Sanford's window and on through Goldstein's window. When Goldstein doesn't respond, Fred fears the worst.

  

Episode 10 - Blood Is Thicker Than Junk

Lamont seeks employment elsewhere, forcing Fred to find a new partner for the junkyard. The situation becomes intolerable for Fred when he realizes his new partner is long on brawn, but short on brain and his old partner, his son, has been hired by a competitor.

  

Episode 11 - Sanford & Son & Sister Makes Three

Fred's old flame Juanita (Ja'net DuBois) brings her daughter Alice (Emily Yancy) to dinner and it's love at first sight for Lamont. Juanita discloses a very delicate and difficult situation when she tells Fred that Alice is really his daughter -- and Lamont is thus dating his sister. When Lamont announces plans to marry Alice, Fred tries to tell him the truth -- but can't.

  

Episode 12 - A Guest in the Yard

Fred and Lamont find a bum in their yard and, before they know it, the Sanfords are jumping to his every whim for fear he'll make good his threat. The uninvited guest claims Fred pushed him -- creating untold injuries -- and he's threatened to sue them for everything they own. At the point of disgust, Fred devises a scheme to prove the bum a faker.

  

Episode 13 - Fred & Carol & Fred & Donna

When Fred invites his fiancée Donna and a door-to-door saleslady to dinner on the same evening, Lamont is convulsed by his father's attempts to keep the women apart. Instead of telling Donna that the dinner is cancelled, Lamont tells her to bring dinner with her.

  

Episode 14 - The Light Housekeeper

When Fred Sanford receives a slight injury in a car mishap, Lamont finds himself waiting on his father hand and foot. Fred rejects the idea of having Aunt Ethel (Beah Richards) help him around the house and settles for Lamont's zany plan to hire a housekeeper. But when she arrives, Fred is aghast to learn she is white... and lazy. Mary Wickes guest stars as the housekeeper.

  

Episode 15 - The Big Party

Faced with more bills than they can pay, Fred and Lamont decide to give a neighborhood party -- and charge admission. Everything goes well until two gangsters show up and make the Sanfords "an offer they can't refuse." The gangsters are played by guest stars Gabe Dell and Danny "Big" Black.

  

Episode 16 - A Visit From Lena Horne

Fred spots Lena Horne's car in the parking lot while touring the NBC Studios and sneaks away to meet "the first lady of his dreams." Fred sneaks into her dressing room and meets her.

  

Episode 17 - Lamont Goes African

Fred thinks Lamont's fascinations with Africa are ludicrous, until he meets Olaiya (guest star Paula Kelly), a Nigerian woman with definite ideas about parental respect. Lamont adopts African dress and customs to impress Olaiya, but, to Fred's delight, Lamont's lack of respect for his father interferes with his goal.

  

Episode 18 - Watts Side Story

Fred is shocked when Lamont dates the sister of their Puerto Rican neighbor, Julio. The date becomes farcical when Fred's ploys to stop the date fail and he follows the couple -- in disguise.

  

Episode 19 - The Infernal Triangle

Lamont is upset when Fred announces that he plans to marry a young woman he has just met. When the young lady arrives at the house, Lamont is shocked to be face-to-face with one of his old girlfriends. Fred is crushed, offering to move out and let Lamont marry her. But Lamont has a better idea.

  

Episode 20 - Pops 'n Pals

Feeling jealous and neglected, Fred conjures up several ruses that will hopefully keep Lamont from spending so much time with Julio. Convinced his son doesn't want to be his pal anymore, he also sets out to make him feel guilty by meeting with an agent from a funeral home to discuss burial insurance.

  

Episode 21 - Home Sweet Home for the Aged

Fred winds up in a senior citizen's home when Lamont decides he wants to travel the world. When Bubba pays a visit, Fred gets an idea not only how to get back home, but how to torpedo Lamont's plans.

  

Episode 22 - Pot Luck

Lamont buys what he thinks is a rare antique commode for $20, and Fred disapproves. Several dealers offer to buy it, but it turns out to be a con and Fred tries to salvage the deal in his own way.

  

Episode 23 - The Kid

Nine-year-old Jason worms his way into the Sanford yard and eventually into Fred's heart. Touched by the runaway's loneliness, Fred gets an idea to help others like Jason -- but he's not prepared for the results.

  

Episode 24 - Rated X

Fred, Lamont and Rollo almost become stars in an X-rated movie until they are faced with the "naked" truth and the wrath of Esther.
