Season 4 Episode Guide

Episode 1 - The Hole Up

Wells Fargo asks Earp to go undercover into the badlands to capture Blackie Saunders wanted for a robbery and murder. Earp agrees to go as a man blamed for Blackie's crime. He finds the outlaw hangout and a solitary neighbor he must fight.

  

Episode 2 - The Peacemaker

While Earp is out of town bringing in Blackie Saunders against Kelley's orders, Curly and Ringgold take over Dodge City forcing Kelley to fire Earp and pay a ransom of $20,000 to prevent them from burning the city to the ground.

  

Episode 3 - The Bounty Killer

Col. Benteen asks Earp to help with a string of murders in the outlaw area called Robber's Roost. The victims are small time rustlers who also own small ranches. Earp agrees to investigate and finds himself working with outlaws.

  

Episode 4 - Caught by a Whisker

Two half-brothers decide to try a new scheme by themselves to rob the Dodge City State National Bank. However, a new alarm bell in the bank and a wise Earp expecting them pose problems for the men successfully getting away.

  

Episode 5 - The Mysterious Cowhand

After Earp's cousin is killed with a knife, Earp decides to go alone to Texas disguised as a cowhand to find the killer. He finds work on a cattle drive riding drag. Things become dicey when the trail boss appears to be involved.

  

Episode 6 - The Gatling Gun

General Sherman asks Earp to intervene with the Nez Perce tribe and Chief Joseph about reclaiming a Gatling gun stolen by Nez Perce. Earp and Mr. Cousin head west to contact Chief Joseph but a militia made up of land grabbers stop them.

  

Episode 7 - Cattle Thieves

Earp and Judge Tobin are forced to enforce a rustling law they think is too strict. A group of five ranchers have filed a complaint against another rancher but all of them have been guilty. Even Shotgun Gibbs is accused of stealing Roscoe.

  

Episode 8 - Remittance Man

Jonathan Milton is an outcast from England living in Dodge City on a inherited remittance. His changing mood is related to $500 he owes gambler George Cantwell made worse when his girlfriend steals the money trying to help him.

  

Episode 9 - King of the Frontier

Ned Buntline arrives in Dodge City after writing a book naming Earp King of the Frontier. The book says Earp can beat any cowboy so a rancher bets Buntline that Earp can't beat his men but Buntline assumes the duel is not part of the bet.

  

Episode 10 - Truth About Gunfighting

A ranch owner wants the man his daughter wants to marry to be his foreman but the man wants everyone to know he earned it. He goes to Dodge City where he finds himself in in a gunfight and under pressure from the other hands on the ranch.

  

Episode 11 - Frontier Woman

Earp receives a report of a wagon attacked by renegades. A group of freighters found them but were acting funny. Earp goes alone to investigate finding the freighters leaving two graves behind as he finds sign of a woman still alive.

  

Episode 12 - Santa Fe War

Earp is asked by the Santa Fe railroad to investigate a war over land ownership between the Finneys and Graingers in Finney County. Earp agrees to go finding himself in the middle of a war between the Graingers and the Finney organization.

  

Episode 13 - Plague Carrier

Earp meets a man on the stage that treats an injured couple after a collision. Earp and Dr. McCarty who is impressed by the man's work urge him to open a practice in Dodge City but when smallpox breaks out they learn he isn't licensed.

  

Episode 14 - Kill the Editor

A new editor is brought in to take over the Globe Times newspaper which has been under attack in Dodge City. Earp soon finds himself accused of murdering the female owner of a saloon with a Globe reporter rounding up witnesses to prove it.

  

Episode 15 - Little Brother

The stage Morgan Earp is riding on is held up. Morgan recognizes one of the bandits Smiley Dunlap as a friend of Doc Holliday. When Morgan arrives in Dodge City, Doc asks Morgan to keep the news from Wyatt as they try to find Smiley.

  

Episode 16 - The Reformation of Doc Holliday

Doc Holliday is very sick with his wife Kate threatening to leave him since he won't follow anyone's instructions to get better. Earp convinces him he should reform to keep Kate. The reformed Doc with no liquor and guns keeps Earp busy.

  

Episode 17 - A Good Man

A reformed gambler Tittle comes to Dodge City preaching against gambling and the devil. In this case the devil is the saloon owner Ganly who wants Tittle removed by any means forcing Earp to intervene when Tittle preaches in his saloon.

  

Episode 18 - Death for a Stolen Horse

Joe Riva is nearly lynched by Pete Hendell for horse stealing which is the punishment in Kansas. Earp stops the lynching and believes Riva is innocent. Doc who knows Riva decides a different type of punishment is needed to make a point.

  

Episode 19 - Last Stand at Smoky Hill

Bat leads a group of old buffalo hunters on a buffalo hunt believing huge herds have returned. Earp doesn't believe it but when he learns the Apache have left their reservation to hunt them, he and Mr. Cousin attempt to warn the group.

  

Episode 20 - The Muleskinner

Earp's old friend Sam McGuffin stops in Dodge City with a load of freight and his six mules along with a companion. Earp has to intervene when Sam uses a whip on his companion he catches trying to steal something and abandoning Sam.

  

Episode 21 - Earp Ain't Even Wearing Guns

Earp is goaded by a southern lady into hanging up his guns while her father's Texas crew is in Dodge City. He and Shotgun are forced to resort to their fists to control the outfit. When Earp and Shotgun win, she tries something different.

  

Episode 22 - Bat Jumps the Reservation

Bat Masterson returns to Dodge City after a good streak of gambling with Cora Warrous and her brother Al. Bat is putting up the money for them to start a cattle ranch in Wyoming. Bat wants Earp to join him but Earp is suspicious of Al.

  

Episode 23 - The Thoth About Rawhide Geraghty

Earp I asked by Mrs. Geraghty to find out what is bothering her husband. Earp finds out he has one more stagecoach run before he retires but he is afraid to make it. Earp convinces Rawhide to make the run with Earp as shotgun.

  

Episode 24 - She Almost Married Wyatt

A runaway girl is found by Mr. Cousin but when Earp investigates the family who adopted her, he decides she should not be returned to it. He decides to try to buy her release from them but may be forced to marry her to gain her freedom.

  

Episode 25 - Horse Race

A horse race between horse owner Milt Canyon and Bullhead turns violent when the Indian pony wins. With Canyon dead the locals want to lynch Bullhead. Earp has to keep peace by convincing Bullhead to return to Dodge City for trial.

  

Episode 26 - Juveniles - 1878

Dodge City is plagued with runaway boys thinking they can live the life they read in dime novels with many wanting to be outlaws. Earp arrests a boy wearing a gun trying to buy alcohol who looks to be 17 and looking for trouble.

  

Episode 27 - One Murder - Fifty Suspects

Loan shark Skinner Smith is found poisoned. Earp is determined to solve the murder but he has a problem. Everyone in town hates Smith and wanted him dead giving Earp a large number of suspects. Earp thinks he has his man but does he?

  

Episode 28 - How to Be a Sheriff

A new Sheriff is elected urged by his family and girl friend to run. He thinks the job is serving papers while the dangerous part will be handled by Earp. The new sheriff learns differently when he is given papers to evict outlaw brothers.

  

Episode 29 - The Judas Goat

A Deputy US Marshal from Topeka asks Earp to help capture a gang of outlaws led by Rocky Griswold. Earp believes it to be entrapment which seems to be confirmed when Joan Deming tells him the men in the group are out of work cowboys.

  

Episode 30 - Doc Fabrique's Greatest Case

Shotgun's mule Roscoe is sick and he wants Dr. McCarty to help. When he says the mule is drunk, Earp decides to call Doc Fabrique from Wichita to help but Doc thinks it is Earp who is near death. The grouchy Doc has to find a miracle cure.

  

Episode 31 - The Actress

Actress Cora Campbell comes to Dodge City to perform creating interest among the men and especially silversmith Tom Tanner. She is followed by gunman Clay Bronson. When Tanner is beaten and Bronson is found dead, Earp has a case to solve.

  

Episode 32 - Love and Shotgun Gibbs

A Special agent for the Santa Fe railroad tells Earp that they expect a gang led One Eyed Brown is going to rob the train. They believe he has a blonde sister in town to provide inside information as Shotgun falls in love with a blonde.

  

Episode 33 - Dodge Is Civilized

In 1879 Mayor Kelley wants to close down the remaining saloons just as Bat returns to take over the Lone Star saloon across from the most successful saloon and he has a young hostess he hopes to marry to draw the men to it.

  

Episode 34 - Little Gray Home in the West

Earp harbors a desire to own a ranch so when Doc has a chance to win one in a game, Earp goes in on it. They find a widow on the ranch with two of Earp's old criminal foes next door. Earp takes a liking to the widow but business first.

  

Episode 35 - The Cyclone

Word is received by telegraph that a cyclone is coming toward Dodge City. Shotgun doesn't believe it since his mule Roscoe isn't excited while Mayor Kelley and Dr. McCarty are trying to prepare for a disaster and Earp must rescue a dog.

  

Episode 36 - Kelley Was Irish

Mayor Kelley wanting law and order fires Earp and Shotgun after Doc shoots a gunman at de Graff's saloon and is found innocent. Kelley has a new man Dave Mather wanting Earp's job and payoffs from all the gambling and saloon businesses.

  

Episode 37 - Arizona Comes to Dodge

Morgan and Virgil Earp come to Dodge City to ask Wyatt to join them in Arizona where they plan to ranch. At the same time Old Man Clanton and his boys arrive expecting payment for stolen cattle they sold to Doc's friend Dave Burnett.
