Season 2 Episode Guide

Episode 1 - Wake Up Call

The Mustangs may have beaten the Wildcats to become unofficial champions last season, but they missed out on actually raising a trophy and it still burns. So this time, Marnie and the team are keen to get their hands on some silverware - starting with the Wattle Cup. Although the Mustangs are feeling pumped and ready to smash their opponents, they haven't done a whole lot of training. And the Ruby-shaped hole in the team is hard to ignore. Especially when the girls have to face Ruby when she shows up with the Wildcats to play in the same tournament. Led by Liv, the Mustangs give Ruby a huge dose of the ice treatment. Except for Lara. Looks like maybe these two have been hanging out over the break. No big deal right?

Episode 2 - Shake Up Call

After the disappointment of the Wattle Cup, Marnie realises that if they're going to win some silverware this season, the Mustangs need to get serious. This means getting fit, nailing technique, and recruiting a killer player to replace Ruby.

Episode 3 - Get Real

Marnie supports the new team formation in theory and she knows Bella's got what it takes up front, but those striker instincts are hard to kick. Everything just feels out of whack.

Episode 4 - The Doubt Worm

After missing a goal at last week's game, new striker Bella finds herself in a spiral of self doubt, replaying the miss over and over in her head. Her wobbled confidence is seriously affecting her play - she just can't get the ball in the net! The team all try to help - but everyone chiming in with their conflicting two cents on exactly what Bella needs, is the last thing she actually needs. When the boys show up for a surprise practise match organised by Danny, Bella tries to rally but when the pressure is on, she ends up in meltdown mode and takes herself off the pitch. With the team in a mess, Liv has a brainwave to boost team morale... a mascot! But when she recruits Kev's help, it heads down a much more sequinned path than even Liv anticipated - more cringe than confidence boosting.

Episode 5 - No Pressure

It's Mustangs versus Wildcats - the match they've all been dreading since the season started. And now that Marnie's in defence, she'll be going head to head against Ruby. Disaster! Danny warns the team not to let emotions get the better of them - it's just another game, no pressure.

Episode 6 - Pity Party

Snacks out, jerseys on, remote in hand - Marnie and the team are all set to watch the mighty Matildas go head to head with Team USA. But that curdling wail coming from the kitchen is not Liv's new soccer chant - it's the sound of someone that's been suddenly dumped. Poor Liv. Nobody could blame her for pressing pause on her relationship with Hamit - the excessive spraying of boyoderant is a legit reason to send anyone gasping for air sometimes - but this time, he's had enough and is hitting stop for good.

Episode 7 - In Sync

The Mustangs are nailing it on the pitch: professionalism, precision, power and all while having their period - something Anusha talks about in great detail, which tbh is TMI. Luckily, the girls are playing an away match, with actual sanitary bins in every toilet - not like at the Mustangs ground. How have they accepted this denial of their right to basic hygiene for so long? Marnie decides it's time to stand up, and takes it to Anton, president of the club and coach of the boys team. He claims to be super supportive and can probably squeeze Marnie onto the agenda at the board meeting tonight but is quick to warn her that not everyone is as cool about "all this women's stuff" as he is!

Episode 8 - You Do Girls

Ruby and Liv are reconciled at last and there is a lot to catch up on, starting with life at the Wildcats. Liv wants the dirt but Ruby's reluctant. Things are... not great. But Liv knows what they're like, right? Remember that nasty thing they said about Liv last year? And although Liv pretends she does know, she really doesn't. Because Marnie lied to Liv about it to protect her feelings. Secrets like this have a tendency to crawl back out again, bigger and nastier. Marnie's going to have to say it out loud: the Wildcats said they'd take Marnie but not her fat friend.

Episode 9 - Sparkly Girls

Marnie is excited about skills camp - only the best, most dedicated players are invited to take part and the quality of the professional coaching is legendary. Actual heaven. That is - until a mix up means she ends up with Lara's gym bag, not her own. And that means plenty of sparkles, sequins and some major wedgie from the gold shorts she's forced to wear... So. Humiliating. Particularly when Michaela shows up to sneer at Marnie's legwarmers. This is not how she envisaged the day going.

Episode 10 - Seven and Half Minutes

Anton has arranged a scout to come to Mustangs HQ on a day that the girls have an away match, but Marnie manages to talk him into letting her play with the boys so that she can have a chance to get seen. Totally amazing. Except it means she'll miss half the girls' match. And it isn't just any match - it's the semi-final. Is she willing to risk the Mustangs losing the semi, if it means she could get scouted for the state team?

Episode 11 - Step Up

Life at the Wildcats is a cat-eat-cat chain of bullying - the more Terry cracks down on Michaela, the more Michaela takes it out on Ruby. When Anusha witnesses this while spying on the Wildcats training, she is appalled. She takes it to the Mustangs - the Wildcats bullying is both racist and homophobic, and Ruby needs their help. But some of the team are not so sure. Ruby's a Wildcat now, it's not their problem. And she's strong - she can look after herself. But Anusha's insistent - they can't just stand by and do nothing! She resolves to take the situation into her own hands and hits the books to figure out the most effective protest method.

Episode 12 - Nailbiter

Everyone else in the Mustangs might be obsessing about the upcoming final against the Wildcats, but Marnie's got other things on her mind. She's been invited to train with the State team and of course she's hoping it will lead to getting a permanent place in the squad. But until that happens, she's going to keep this news on the DL. After all, she doesn't want to put everyone in a spin before the big game.

Episode 13 - Hoof Five!

The worst thing that can happen in a final, is happening. Penalty shootouts. The pressure is huge: on the shooting players, who know their single kick could make or break the game; on the goalie who shoulders the heavy burden of trying to make a save; on the parents, who don't have any fingernails left! Can the Mustangs do the impossible and beat the Wildcats in a shootout?
