Episode 1 - Errors of Judgement, Pt. 1Helen Mirren returns again as DS Jane Tennison. Now transferred to the Greater Manchester Police, her reputation for fierce assertiveness precedes her. After an unsatisfactory stint at community relations, Tennison heads an investigation into the murder of a young drug dealer. The social problems of the urban youth are at the centre of this realistic and unflinching drama. The investigation also brings her into conflict with her superior officer, Detective Chief Superintendent Martin Ballinger, over the most effective way of dealing with the drug crisis. In moving to a new station, Tennison has to cope with a fresh team who are more familiar with the territory than she is, and who are wary of an outsider, however experienced. The combination of Tennison's instinct and dogged determination to catch the criminals leads her into a situation of extreme personal jeopardy.

Episode 2 - Errors of Judgement, Pt. 2Part two of this murder mystery in which DSI Jane Tennison has been transferred to Manchester. To ease her into the job, she is sent to schools to lecture but feels that she is wasted on the task. Then a young boy is shot. Campbell Lafferty confesses to the murder, but is later released. On his way back from the cells he is abducted by a character known as 'The Street' - an event that leads to Lafferty's death. The team must find out where he was executed if they are to have a chance of solving the case. The Street seems to be one step ahead - is there an inside leak? DSI Tennison appears on 'Crimenight' and pulls in The Street as she tries to break him down once and for all.
