Episode 2 - Episode Two: Sorrow SongsAs Blake and Jean acclimatise to their new relationship dynamic, and Jean wrestles with it's implications for her faith, the murder of a beautiful gypsy woman takes Blake inside the intriguing and exotic world of Romani travellers passing through Ballarat.

Episode 3 - Episode Three: The Call of the VoidWhen a French Chef is found murdered in the freezer of a restaurant in town, suspicion soon turns to Bill Hobart. As Hobart professes his innocence, evidence soon comes to light about a police raid on the victim's home after an anonymous tip-off and accusations of homosexuality. Can Blake clear Hobart's name, or is the Senior Sergeant guilty of brutally murdering a man thanks largely to the Ballarat rumour mill?

Episode 4 - Episode Four: All She Leaves BehindA controversial writer returns home to Ballarat, having written a new novel that promises to be an uncompromising dissection of the town, its inhabitants, and all of their many flaws. But when she's found dead and her sister's found unconscious from a suspected suicide, Blake has to search out some truths about the place in order to understand how and why the woman died. And as he does so, Jean is faced with the disapproval of her church and her town over her engagement to Blake.

Episode 5 - Episode Five: Measure TwiceWhen Blake is called to investigate the murder of a retired carpenter, his only real suspect is discovered praying over the body and covered in blood. As he delves further into the dead man's life Blake will discover a web of complicated relationships, and a connection to religion that eerily parallels crises of faith for several of those closest to him.

Episode 6 - Episode Six: First DanceWhen a teenage girl dies at her Debutante Ball, Blake investigates, despite being housebound while he recovers from being stabbed. He soon discovers the victim was not only murdered but had suffered physical abuse and was self-harming. The case and Blake's recent close call with death makes him confront his own tendency for self-obsession and how it impacts his relationship with Jean, but will it be enough to help him find the killer?

Episode 7 - Episode Seven: A Good DropIt's the week before Christmas, and Blake has been called upon to investigate the murder of a local farmer who has been shot to death at point blank range. He soon discovers a tangled web of dodgy land deals, old grudges, frustrated ambition and familial intrigue. And then amongst all of this Blake's divorce proceedings are suddenly made very, very public.
