Episode 1 - My First Day - The Pilot

"Scrubs" focuses on the bizarre experiences of fresh-faced medical intern John "J.D." Dorian (Zach Braff, "The Broken Hearts Club") as he embarks on his career in a surreal hospital crammed full of unpredictable staffers and patients - where humor and tragedy can merge paths at any turn. Joining the rumpled J.D. on his first day are his college buddy, Chris Turk (Donald Faison, "Remember the Titans"), an intern with a more elite surgical group, and J.D.'s fellow medical intern, the beautiful and driven Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke, "Roseanne"). Meanwhile, the sobering reality of patients' needs has J.D.'s head spinning and his confidence is challenged by the fatherly chief of medicine, Dr. Bob Kelso (Ken Jenkins, "Courage Under Fire"). However, with the help of the abrasive, worldly Dr. Perry Cox (John C. McGinley, "Wall Street") and caring nurse Carla Espinosa (Judy Reyes, "Oz"), the neophyte doctor works through his mistakes and discovers that he is up to the job in this brave new world.

Episode 49 - Season 3, Episode 3: My White Whale

Dr. Cox searches for a pediatrician for his son and the young doctors get interns of their own; Scott Foley and Christopher Meloni Guest Star. -- As third year residents JD (Zach Braff) Turk (Donald Faison) and Elliot (Sarah Chalke) get their own set of interns and realize that they each have very different approaches training them. When JD needs help with training his interns he turns to Elliot and who refers him to her boyfriend Sean (guest star Scott Foley) who shares some of the training tips he's picked up during his time at Seaworld. At the same time Elliot experience with her interns makes her realize that she needs to stand up to Dr. Kelso (Ken Jenkins). Meanwhile Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) and Jordan (guest star Christa Miller Lawrence) are having some trouble finding a doctor for their kid until they meet Dr. Norris (guest star Christopher Meloni) whose abrasive yet somehow familiar personality makes his the perfect candidate for the job.

Sean and Elliot's relationship is put to the test when their secrets are revealed leaving J.D. to wrestle with his true feelings about Elliot -- Scott Foley Guest Stars. -- Sean (guest star Scott Foley) is a bit surprised and disturbed to learn about Elliot (Sarah Chalke) and JD's (Zach Braff) history together but it turns out his anger is really a cover up for the fact that his little work trip is actually six months long and he doesn't want Elliot to explode. J.D. who has been watching their relationship develop finally acknowledges that he still has feelings for Elliot and that he has to come to either accept her new relationship or do something about it. Meanwhile Dr. Cox. (John C. McGinley) is forced to swallow his pride and actually ask for help when he decides to throw his hat in the ring for the Residency Director position at the hospital. The flight of a butterfly illustrates the delicate balance between the powers of medicine and nature. -- In a unique episode the path of a butterfly is the deciding factor in the fate of the young doctors. At the beginning a butterfly landing on a woman's breast sets off a chain of events ultimately resulting in the death of J.D. and Turk's patient leaving them to wonder what they could have done to change the outcome of their day. Taking a step back in time the butterfly takes a slightly different path landing instead on a man's chest setting in motion an alternate chain of events that leads our characters down a very different path. She befriends a lonely Elliot and tries her best to help J.D. and Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) with a patient offering profound and helpful insight. J.D. (Zach Braff) has become chief resident and is flaunting his new title and pay check all over the hospital. J.D.'s new sense of pride seems to be especially hurtful to Turk (Donald Faison) who is still a resident and currently being denied more difficult surgeries by his new attending physician. Turk's ego is further hurt when J.D. doubts his abilities as a surgeon. J.D. and Elliot's (Sarah Chalke) relationship has taken a turn for the worse when J.D. is accidentally called the co-Chief Resident and Elliot the Chief Resident. This mix-up lifts Elliot's post break-up spirits. Dr. Cox (John C. Meanwhile Carla (Judy Reyes) becomes so annoyed with Turk's (Donald Faison) stuffed dog Rowdy she takes drastic measures to get rid of him. However Eliot soon realizes that Molly is not quite the person she thought she was when her felon boyfriend is admitted to the hospital after stealing a car and crashing it into a telephone pole. Turk (Donald Faison) and Carla (Judy Reyes) ask J.D. (Zach Braff) to move out to give them some space to rekindle the romance in their relationship. Suddenly homeless J.D. tries to use the situation to his advantage by asking his girlfriend Kylie (guest star Chrystee Pharris-Larkins Passions ) if he can stay at her place. As everyone reacts to the pregnancy in different ways Carla (Judy Reyes) and Turk (Donald Faison) begin to discuss baby names and despite his promise to Carla Turk is unable to keep quiet about their initial choices. After assigning someone else to assist sweaty Teddy (Sam Lloyd) with incoming malpractice claim paperwork Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) is caught off guard when Dr. Kelso (Ken Jenkins) steps in to stick him with the job. Meanwhile a patient with weight-related problems needs an MRI but the staff has to come up with a solution when they find he's too big for the machine.

  

Episode 112 - Season 5, Episode 19: His Story III

The Janitor sabotages J.D.'s video diary for his Mom - Markie Post People's Court ) guest stars -- After J.D. (Zach Braff) helps Turk (Donald Faison) and Carla (Judy Reyes) turn his old bedroom into a nursery for the baby he gets the idea to strap a digital camera to his head so his mom can see life through his eyes. J.D. tries to see himself as a father --The Blue Man Group makes a special appearance and Elizabeth Banks guest stars -- The staff at Sacred Heart returns for a sixth season and JD is still reeling from the news that he is going to be a father. Meanwhile Dr. Cox -- while readying himself for baby number two -- realizes that his constant anger may have future repercussions. Elsewhere Turk and Carla prepare for the arrival of their little one while Elliot laments that she is the only one in the hospital not having a baby! Thinking he won't be able to support his family he begins giving medical advice on the side for a quick buck. Life is but a song as the cast of Scrubs star in a musical episode with songs written by the Tony Award-Winning composers of Avenue Q Robert Lopez and Jeff Marks -- Stephanie D'Abruzzo (an original cast member of Avenue Q ) guest stars - - Sacred Heart is turned into a full scale Broadway stage when Patti (Stephanie D'Abruzzo) checks in complaining of hearing incessant music. While trying to determine the cause of this strange complaint the residents of Sacred Heart star in their own musical. Carla and Turk tango over her decision to be a stay at home mom or to return to work while Elliot struggles with telling J.D. that she doesn't want to be roommates with him anymore -- both girls hope that the boy's Guy Love will help them through the rough patch. All the while the staff wonders if life would be happier if everyone was in constant harmony.

  

Episode 125 - Season 6, Episode 8: His Story IV

The staff of Sacred Heart divide down political party lines - Michael Weston guest stars - While the staff questions Dr. Kelso's commitment to the hospital we begin to see the world from his point of view. But when he befriends patient Private Brian Dancer the war stories he brings back from Iraq remind Kelso what it means to be a good leader. Meanwhile Dancer's presence in the hospital causes a heated political debate amongst the staffers dividing them down party lines while everyone is fighting the patient's well-being is being neglected. Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) gets a visit from one of his recurring patients. This patient is a little different since Dr. Cox cannot seem to diagnose his problem. J.D. (Zach Braff) and Turk (Donald Faison) see this as an opportunity to show up Dr. Cox and set out to find exactly what is hindering him. Meanwhile after Elliott (Sarah Chalke) spilled the beans on exactly how old Dr. Kelso (Ken Jenkins) really is she teams up with Carla (Judy Reyes) to try and convince the board to not force him into retirement. The Giant (Neil Flynn) keeps an eye out for the heroes while the two-headed Turla (Judy Reyes Donald Faison) lends some magic but it’s the brave knight in shining armor -- storyteller -- Dr. Cox that lends them the knowledge that may save the day.
