Season 10 Episode Guide

Episode 1 - Gunshow

When an angry misogynist murders 15 people - mostly women - on a shooting spree in Central Park, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and his new partner, Detective Green (new series regular Jesse L. Martin from "Ally McBeal") try to trace the origination of the illegal automatic gun. As they close in on the suspect (guest star Neal Huff), Briscoe voices doubts about Green's questionable modus operandi both on and off the job. When the case arrives on D.A. McCoy's desk (Sam Waterston), he makes a personal crusade to prosecute not only the killer, but also the corporate gun manufacturer who legally produces semi-automatic weapons that can be converted for mass destruction. Angie Harmon, S. Epatha Merkerson, Steven Hill also star.

Episode 2 - Killerz

When a young boy is found murdered at a construction site, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) converge on an auto mechanic (guest star Alan Davidson) as their prime suspect based on the eyewitness accounts of two unusual girls whose stories don't mesh, thereby arousing the curiosity of the veteran investigators. More probing reveals that one of the little girls might be to blame, making it a tough case for McCoy (Sam Waterston), who fears that unless the 10-year-old child is proven to be responsible for her increasingly violent acts and isolated, other children will suffer. Angie Harmon, S. Epatha Merkerson and Steven Hill also star.

Episode 3 - Dnr

A fast-rising civil court judge (guest star Lindsay Crouse) is carjacked and gunned down in her garage, but as Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) begin to connect the dots, they consider the crime to be a botched murder-for-hire scheme -- and the primary suspect is her architect husband (guest star John Heard). While the suffering victim lingers near death and asks to be allowed to die without any more medical assistance, she steadfastly maintains her husband's innocence and threatens to testify on his behalf, which would ruin D.A. McCoy's (Sam Waterston) case. Angie Harmon, S. Epatha Merkerson and Steven Hill also star.

Episode 4 - Merger

When a drug-addled 15-year-old girl is found murdered, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) find a host of likely suspects among her mega-wealthy family as well as their equally monied friends next door -- but they can't eliminate any male until they get a judge's permission to test DNA from previously donated blood of one family's son. However, once Assistant District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) begin their case, a festering family scandal unfolds that might affect their chances for proving first-degree murder. S. Epatha Merkerson and Steven Hill also star.

Episode 5 - Justice

When a lawyer is murdered, assistant D.A. McCoy (Sam Waterston) believes the slayer is also responsible for a previous killing but as he struggles to link the two crimes, he is surprised to be opposed by his former colleague, Jamie Ross (Carey Lowell, reprising her "Law & Order" role). Ross, who has been counsel for an international war crimes tribunal, shocks her former cohorts when she curiously represents a detestable client; if she succeeds, a man already wrongly convicted of the crime will be executed in spite of McCoy's dogged efforts. Jerry Orbach, Jesse L. Martin, Angie Harmon, S. Epatha Merkerson and Steven Hill also star.

Episode 6 - Marathon

Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) are frustrated with their fruitless investigation of an elderly lady's public murder but tensions mount between the two partners when Briscoe flares at being second-guessed by fellow cops after he claims to hear a prime suspect confess. In addition, while the veteran detective bristles at veiled suggestions that he is too old to do the job, he and Green must put aside their differences to search for the small handgun that could make their case against the taunting suspect. Meanwhile, a silent Briscoe can't help but notice that his partner has picked up a dangerous habit on his own personal time. Sam Waterston, Angie Harmon, S. Epatha Merkerson and Steven Hill also star.

Episode 7 - Patsy

When a young woman is found bludgeoned into a coma, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) believe that an employee (guest star Sebastian Roche) in the state comptroller's office is the prime culprit -- especially when they discover that their suspect was the boyfriend of the victim's sister who disappeared three years earlier. But as a confident McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) sift through the puzzle, their key piece of evidence -- matching DNA found at the crime scene -- may not be enough for a conviction when another witness steps forward. Steven Hill and S. Epatha Merkerson also star.

Episode 8 - Blood Money

When a murdered elderly man is found to have been both stabbed and shot, perplexed Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) discover that the victim was a life insurance salesman who sold bogus policies to Holocaust victims during World War II -- a fact that could prove costly to the company now holding title to the old claims. While assistant D.A. McCoy (Sam Waterston) thinks they have the culprit who stabbed the man, they look deeper for the shooter's motive and learn that the victim possessed valuable information about specific policy numbers. Angie Harmon, S. Epatha Merkerson and Steven Hill also star.

Episode 9 - Sundown

When a fiftysomething wife and mother is found beaten to death in a hospital, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) search for an elusive silver-haired gigolo (guest star Mark Pinter) who romances a string of rich elderly women and receives expensive gifts -- including the victim's heirloom jewelry. But the investigation takes a startling turn when prosecutors McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) begin interviewing potential witnesses, including the victim's contentious son (guest star Bradley White, "Mad About You"), daughter (guest star Missy Yager, "The Mike O'Malley Show") and Alzheimer's-afflicted husband (guest star George Martin). S. Epatha Merkerson and Steven Hill also star.

Episode 10 - Loco Parentis

When a teenager is found slashed to death, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) focus their attention on a fellow high school classmate (guest star Jacob Pitts) known for bullying the victim and for his interest in violent video games and brutal martial arts weapons. However, after evidence is disallowed and a fearful young witness begs off, prosecutors McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) consider flushing the case until the enterprising McCoy tries a new gambit. S. Epatha Merkerson and Steven Hill also star.

Episode 11 - Collision

When a delusional homeless woman is found strangled, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) comb through the city's psych wards in search of a disruptive suspect (guest star Seth Barrish) but finally appeal to the man's agonizing parents (guest stars Joseph Hindy and Marcia Jean Kurtz) to help arrest him. However, Assistant D.A.s McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) have a major handicap to overcome in prosecuting the accused when he suddenly refuses to take his antidepressant medicine - thereby rendering himself mentally incapable of standing trial for murder. S. Epatha Merkerson and Steven Hill also star.

Episode 12 - Mothers Milk

Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) search for a missing baby between two young separated parents (Tessa Ghylin; Michael C. Williams, "The Blair Witch Project"), each of whom says the other has the baby -- until police make a grim discovery in a backyard. When the tot is unearthed and determined to have expired due to chronic starvation, Deputy D.A. Carmichael (Angie Harmon) is determined to prosecute the mother, the child's primary caregiver, instead of the father. Sam Waterston, Steven Hill and S. Epatha Merkerson also star.

Episode 13 - Panic

When a best-selling author (guest star Ruthie Henshall) is gunned down on the street along with another victim who is killed, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) ignore the writer's contention that the gunman was an obsessed fan and concentrate on a possible love triangle that includes an FBI agent (guest star and Golden Globe winner Tom Berenger, "Platoon") and his wife (Linda Emond). However, just as Assistant District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) begin their case, new evidence suggests a revolving door of most likely suspects. Steven Hill and S. Epatha Merkerson also star.

Episode 14 - Entitled

In the second part of a crossover episode featuring the casts of "Law & Order" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," the police probe the gunshot murders of two men but their prime suspect - a serial killer who previously eluded Detective Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) years before - confesses to only one of the slayings. The cops re-focus their investigation of the wayward socialite daughter (guest star Noelle Beck) of a wealthy, politically connected - and threatening - grande dame (Emmy and Tony Award winner Jane Alexander), but the missing link to D.A. McCoy's (Sam Waterston) case may lie in finding a mob hitman (Steve Mones) who appears to be linked to both murders. Jesse L. Martin, S. Epatha Merkerson, Angie Harmon, Steven Hill, Mariska Hargitay, Christopher Meloni, Dann Florek and Richard Belzer also star.

Episode 15 - Fools for Love

While Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) search for the killer of two underaged teenage girls who were drugged, bound and raped, they discover that one victim's older sister (guest star Ellen Pompeo) is also missing, but if found alive, could be the key piece of evidence against their prime suspect (guest star Sam Ball). When the beaten young woman is recovered but is reluctant to testify against her "boyfriend," Assistant D.A. Carmichael (Angie Harmon) contests her story while fellow A.D.A. McCoy (Sam Waterston) tries to keep the state's rapidly dissolving case intact. Steven Hill and S. Epatha Merkerson also star. Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni of NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" guest-star as their respective characters, Detectives Benson and Stabler.

Episode 16 - Trade This

A seemingly random murder-shooting of a stockbroker takes on new dimensions when Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) discover that the suspected killer was in turn executed by a professional hitman. As Assistant District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) sniff around the victim's respected stockbroking firm -- and its e-mail transactions -- they catch a whiff of organized crime that could complicate or simplify their case. Steven Hill and S. Epatha Merkerson also star.

Episode 17 - Black, White & Blue

When a white teenager is found murdered in Harlem, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) backtrack through several possible suspects, including the two most likely who bragged about killing the youth and were seen wearing his jacket that night. However, when Assistant District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) take the case, they discover that two patrol officers (guest stars Danny Johnson and James Georgiades) are partially to blame for the tragedy - thereby widening the political scope of their prosecution. Steven Hill and S. Epatha Merkerson also star.

When a demure female graduate student is found strangled and stuffed inside a car trunk, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) first suspect local gang members until they discover that the married victim, who also worked as a teacher's assistant, was having an affair with one of her college students (guest star Dustin James). However, the detectives are even more curious about her husband (guest star Richard Joseph Paul) - a preppy psychologist - when they learn that the woman first met him as one of his patients. Sam Waterston, Angie Harmon, Steven Hill and S. Epatha Merkerson also star.

Episode 20 - Untitled

A man claims he acted under extreme emotional disturbance after he murders the woman who sponsored a graphic painting.

Episode 21 - Narcosis

When an Asian-American stripper is found strangled, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) discover that the victim was also operating a brothel that forced illegal Chinese immigrant women into sex slaves -- and they are further saddened to see two fellow detectives (guest stars Paul Regina and Mark Giordano) who were coerced into aiding her. As their trail narrows, they venture into cyberspace to check out an unlikely suspect - a phantom computer hacker known as "Hotrod." Sam Waterston, Angie Harmon, Steven Hill and S. Epatha Merkerson also star.

Episode 22 - High & Low

Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) probe the strangulation of a college coed who moonlighted as a stripper, and while they believe a pair of drug-dealing skinheads (guest stars Michael Weaver and Ryan Homchick) committed the murder, they struggle to determine the motive of the strip club owner (guest star Stephen Spinella) who paid them for the hit. However, as they work their way up the ladder of complicity, the cops learn that the slaying is keyed to an insider trading scam that forces Assistant D.A. McCoy (Sam Waterston) to connect a former porn star with a businessman (guest star Peter Van Wagner). Angie Harmon, Steven Hill and S. Epatha Merkerson also star.

Episode 23 - Stiff

When a wealthy middle-aged woman is found drugged and comatose, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) suspect that her husband (guest star David Dukes) either tried to commit a mercy killing or murder her for her money, but the discovery of a shocking tape swerves their investigation in a new direction. Later, new evidence could implicate another close family member and informs Assistant D.A.s McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) of the victim's true condition and prognosis. Steven Hill and S. Epatha Merkerson also star.

Episode 24 - Vaya Con Dios

The far-reaching probe into an old man's death precipitates Assistant D.A. McCoy's (Sam Waterston) most crucial case when he seeks to prosecute a high-level foreign dignitary for the torture-murder of a New York student 27 years ago, and the passionate McCoy is ready to argue the unprecedented case before the U.S. Supreme Court. He is aided by Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin), who discover that the elderly victim fought for decades to investigate the U.S. military's involvement in the slaying of his student son by the Chilean army during a 1973 coup in the South American country. Angie Harmon, Steven Hill and S. Epatha Merkerson also star.
