Episode 1 - Cherished

The investigation into the death of an adopted baby girl leads Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) to uncover secrets an adoptive family was desperately trying to hide. When the baby's brother turns out to be an abusive and disturbed young boy, Assistant District Attorney McCoy (Sam Waterston) and his new headstrong partner, Assistant District Attorney Abbie Carmichael, try to prove it was murder. Episode 2 - DWB

Episode 3 - Bait

Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) struggle to unravel a chain of half-truths given to them by a victim who was taken to the hospital after being robbed, shot and wounded in the East Village - far from his suburban Connecticut home. As they try to draw the truth from their victim, they stumble on the cold-blooded murder of a young girl. Episode 4 - Flight

The sudden death of a kindergarten boy from a rare and lethal flu sends Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) frantically searching New York City for the source of the virus. They quickly realize the young boy contracted the flu through lethal injection, and Assistant District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) must link the murderers to the source of the deadly serum and bring them all to justice before another potential outbreak. Episode 5 - Agony

Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) are thrown into a search for a disturbed killer when a murdered mailman and a severely tortured woman, hanging on for her life, are found. They arrest a serial killer who confesses to the crimes and is eager to make a deal to avoid the death penalty, but Assistant District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) find themselves in a moral dilemma when they discover that the wrong killer is in custody. Episode 6 - Scrambled

When a female embryologist is found dead in a fertility clinic storage room, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) search for the killer who has also mysteriously damaged other frozen embryos from a storage freezer - making the embryos useless. The evidence left behind leads the detectives to believe that the killer was desperate enough to kill anyone who got in the way. Assistant District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) must figure out how they can convict the young woman's killer without sacrificing their own beliefs. S. Episode 7 - Venom

Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) investigate the life of a New York City 'escort' when he is shot dead in a theater alley during an intermission at a high profile benefit concert. The detectives interrogate his high society clients and search for any enemies the young man might have had who could be responsible for his violent death. District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) quickly realize that this may be a case of foul play, as unanswered questions and lies surface. S. Episode 8 - Punk

When two boys find the dead body of a middle-aged man in a park, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) are called to investigate. The detectives learn that the murdered man was a corrections officer at a women's prison who took particular interest in an inmate that Abbie Carmichael (Angie Harmon) put away on a drug charge three years earlier. McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael are left to untangle a web of secrets and lies and end up face-to-face with defense attorney Danielle Melnick (guest star Tovah Feldshuh, 'Holocaust'). S. Episode 9 - True North

When a man hears gun shots in his neighbor's home and calls 911, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) find themselves investigating the murder of a wealthy man and his very young daughter. The wife and mother of the deceased seems to know a lot more than she lets on. District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) hit a snag in the case when important evidence cannot be obtained because of unusual circumstances. S. Episode 10 - Hate

A young high school girl is found severely beaten and tied to a tree in the middle of Central Park. Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) find evidence that leads them straight to a Hitler youth gathering. Is the young lonely girl a victim of her own hatred? District Attorney's McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) try desperately to convict not only the murderer, but also the person provoking the hatred. S. Episode 11 - Ramparts

While investigating a shooting on the shores of the Hudson River, a NYPD diver fishes up a 1968 Volkswagen bus with a young man's remains, including a skull with a gunshot hole. Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) reopen a case that has long been closed and end up investigating controversial university protests from the 1960s. When new evidence and suspects surface, Assistant District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) realize they strike a sore nerve with the Bureau of Special Services.

  

Episode 12 - Haven

A Harlem neighborhood is shaken when two young boys stumble on the body of a popular community leader beaten to death in his community center. Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) investigate possible enemies the victim could have had and quickly learn that he may have had more than just 'friends' in the community who owe him favors. District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) struggle to prevent a political disaster by convicting the correct murderer before the community turns itself upside down in anger and grief. Episode 13 - Hunters

When a parolee is found dead in the trunk of a car, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) find themselves in a race against time when two bounty hunters seem to be hunting down the same 'suspect' - dead or alive. District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) prosecute the case but run into problems when details of the deadly shootout make their argument deceptive.

  

Episode 14 - Sideshow

Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) are called to investigate the death of a woman found dead in Battery Park. They soon discover that she is a government official from Baltimore, and are reunited with members of the Baltimore Police Department's Homicide unit. The New York detectives team up with Detectives Munch (guest star Richard Belzer) and Sheppard (guest star Michael Michele) to uncover the mystery and secrets behind what seems to be a Washington sex scandal cover-up. Assistant District Attorney McCoy (Sam Waterston) is hindered in building evidence against the murderer when he is subpoenaed to appear before an Independent Council to reveal information that he has gathered on the case. He and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) work tirelessly to bring their case to court and to get a conviction without the Independent Council stepping in. S. Epatha Merkerson and Steven Hill also star.

  

Episode 15 - Disciple

A young girl is found dead amongst the hustle and bustle of an ER waiting room. When no one in the ER claims to be with her, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) are called in to determine the identity of the girl and investigate how she managed to get to the waiting room of the ER. As the case starts to unravel, District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) must fight to uphold the people's right to religious freedom while convincing a jury that strong beliefs in God doesn't exempt anyone from the basic moral code of humanity. Episode 16 - Harm

When Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) are called to investigate an assault on a retired divorce attorney, they find themselves investigating a sticky divorce that points them in the direction of a possible homicide. Assistant District Attorney Carmichael (Angie Harmon) is determined to bring this complicated case to court to prove that no one is above the law. Sam Waterston, S. Epatha Merkerson and Steven Hill also star.

  

Episode 17 - Shield

While on an undercover stakeout, an officer returns to his car and finds his partner shot dead and lying on the sidewalk near the front of their vehicle. Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) investigate the stakeout suspect and quickly realize they are on the wrong path. Their pursuit for clues leads them to suspect one of their own. Assistant District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) begin to piece together their case, tying the suspect to the murder, when police psychiatrist Emil Skoda (guest star J.K. Simmons) indicates that this case has more to it than meets the eye. S. Epatha Merkerson and Steven Hill also star.

  

Episode 18 - Juvenile

A well-known newspaper columnist, known for his investigative reporting, is mysteriously shot and hanging on for life in the hospital. Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) investigate the shooting and find themselves re-examining a sensationalized murder case that was closed twenty years ago. In order to prevent any media scrutiny, Assistant District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) must find a legal loophole to convict the suspect. S. Episode 19 - Tabula Rasa

A university professor is mysteriously thrown from a New York City subway platform straight into an oncoming subway and Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) suspect murder. While the detectives search for clues to determine the motive, they unravel a family's hidden past and domineering father. Assistant District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) are determined to prosecute the murderer while working around an expired statute. S. Episode 20 - Empire

Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) investigate the fatal heart attack of a New York City corporate mogul caused by an overdose of a sexual performance-enhancing drug. Detective Curtis puts his personal and professional life on the line when Assistant District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) ask him to take the stand in order to link the scandalous sex crime to a motive. Episode 21 - Ambitious

As Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) investigate the death of an audio installation salesman, their search introduces them to a web of players who are all linked to the murderer, and consequently, the mafia. When Assistant DA's McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) go to work, they face a remorseless suspect who has plenty of 'friends' who will give anything to keep him out of prison. To build a strong case against the suspect, McCoy and Carmichael face the challenge of convincing witnesses to testify and ensuring their safety. Later, District Attorney Schiff (Steven Hill) is forced to step in to adjust McCoy's ideas of proper punishment for the accused. S. Epatha Merkeson also stars.

  

Episode 22 - Admissions

Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) find themselves in college when a promising mathematician is found strangled and stabbed. The detective's investigation uncovers the young woman's turbulent relationship with a professor, but they fall short on evidence that links the crime to the affair. When Assistant District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) intercede, they become suspicious of two friends of the victim who seem determined to protect each other's stories. Episode 23 - Refuge, Pt. 1

Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) are off to a challenging start when they arrive at the latest crime scene to find both the victim and the perpetrator dead. With little evidence to go on, the trail of clues leads the detectives to a speechless 10-year-old witness, thus introducing them to the dangerous web of the Russian Mafia. When assistant District Attorneys McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) begin to prosecute, the mafia-connected defendants 'miraculously' silence the witnesses and endanger the lives of the attorneys. Episode 24 - Refuge, Pt. 2

Assistant DA's McCoy and Carmichael become entangled in the dangerous world of the Russian Mafia when witnesses are found dead and evidence is destroyed. In order to safely investigate, McCoy (Sam Waterston) puts the suspects behind bars without sufficient evidence, and risks violating their civil liberties. As the grim situation continues to unravel, McCoy and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) must prove the connection between the Russian defendants and a large-scale money laundering enterprise before they are released on technicalities. Benjamin Bratt, Jerry Orbach and S. Epatha Merkerson also star.
