Season 6 Episode Guide

Episode 1 - Bitter Fruit

Detective Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and his new partner, Detective Reynaldo Curtis (Benjamin Bratt, Pinero) investigate the death of a young girl who was abducted on her way to piano lessons. They apprehend a suspect, but when the victim's distraught mother shoots and kills him at the arraignment, ADAs McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Kincaid (Jill Hennessy) look into whether or not the mother and suspect were actually partners in crime.

  

Episode 2 - Rebels

With tensions high between new partners Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt), they investigate the murder of a rich NYU student who frequented biker bars. Detectives soon learn that the the victim's father had offered him $10,000 to drop his biker hobby -and his biker girlfriend.

  

Episode 3 - Savages

The murder of an undercover narcotics agent splits Kincaid and McCoy over whether or not to ask for the newly reinstated death penalty. Ultimately, District Attorney Schiff must make the call. Victor Garber (Alias) guest stars.

  

Episode 4 - Jeopardy

A dead editor reveals a family dispute over the family business. Detectives find out that the victim's brother tried to sabotage the victim's reputation and business in order to gain new clients for his own, competing business - but when forensics evidence is ruled inadmissable, McCoy and Kincaid must refocus their case.

  

Episode 5 - Hot Pursuit

A young woman, kidnapped and sexually abused by a street thug, is forced to join her captor in a robbery and killing spree. Their rampage leads to a confrontation in which the thug is killed and the woman's true motives are questioned. Amanda Peet (Changing Lanes) guest stars.

  

Episode 6 - Paranoia

A college student is stabbed in her dorm room, which at first seems to be the result of another student's obsession. However, when the girl's roommate attempts suicide her deadly past is revealed. Sandy Duncan (The Hogan Family) guest stars.

  

Episode 7 - Humiliation

A street hooker known to hustle blackmail out of her clients is killed and a Neighborhood Watch leader easily provides the license plate numbers of her frequent customers. Did a prominent doctor's wife kill the prostitute to stop a blackmail attempt?

  

Episode 8 - Angel

A baby girl abducted from church leaves little clues; however, Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson) instructs Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) to investigate the girl's devout mother. The mother confesses, claiming God told her to kill her baby. ADAs McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Kincaide (Jill Hennessy) are left to prosecute against divine intervention.

  

Episode 9 - Blood Libel

When a Jewish art teacher is killed in her classroom, Briscoe and Curtis question a fellow teacher with whom the victim had argued. However, further investigation reveals an undercurrent of anti-Semitic hate among the student body. Chris Cooper (The Patriot) guest stars.

  

Episode 10 - Remand

An infamous stabbing case is brought to trial again after thirty years when new evidence implies the wrong man is sitting in jail. District Attorney Schiff (Steven Hill) allows McCoy and Kincaide to requestion those involved in the case and prosecute the new suspect; however, things don't go exactly as planned.

  

Episode 11 - Corpus Delicti

The death of a show horse seems a more likely case for the ASPCA then Briscoe and Curtis, until a shady horse dealer is accused of selling sick horses to unsuspecting, older investors. Later, Kincaid and McCoy push for a conviction when the horse's owner disappears and is presumed dead.

  

Episode 12 - Trophy

When a thirteen-year-old boy is killed and evidence points to an imprisoned serial killer, Briscoe and Curtis are forced to reopen the five-year-old case. Has the wrong man been in jail all this time? Laila Robins (True Crime) guest stars as one of McCoy's former associates.

  

Episode 13 - Charm City

Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) team up with Baltimore Detectives Pembleton (Andre Braugher) and Bayliss (Kyle Secor) to help catch a man accused of setting gas bombs in New York and Baltimore. However, the NY detectives quickly discover that their methods of investigation strongly conflict with those of the Baltimore guys.

  

Episode 14 - Custody

When a social worker is killed, his gambling habit and scam of the foster-care system are revealed. A drug-addcited mother desperate to reclaim her baby becomes a suspect, but her lawyer - former ADA Paul Robinette - proves to be a challenge to McCoy and Kincaid.

  

Episode 15 - Encore

A dead jogger leads to a suspicious husband. The man, previously a prime suspect in his first wife's murder, is off the hook when a witness identifies someone else; however, McCoy and Kincaid soon prove that the killer was hired by the husband - who desperately needed the life insurance money. Larry Miller (The Nutty Professor) guest stars.

  

Episode 16 - Savior

In an apparent jewlery theft a woman, her ten-year-old son and her teenage daugther are shot, killing the mother and son. Detectives target the devastated husband/father, but evidence soon links the murders to the surviving victim and her deadbeat boyfriend.

  

Episode 17 - Deceit

An affluent, gay lawyer is killed leading detectives to his lover, who works as a female impersonator. A blackmail plot is revealed and the lover is accused - but is he just protecting his embittered wife? Mary Beth Hurt (The Age of Innocence) guest stars.

  

Episode 18 - Atonement

Detectives Briscoe and Curtis investigate the disappearance of a model, who they suspect was murdered even though her body hasn't been recovered. The model's busy nightlife leads detectives to a drug dealer and a shady photographer. Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos) guest stars.

  

Episode 19 - Slave

The murder of an older woman is linked to a local drug dealer, although the victim was not a drug user. Detectives soon learn that a heartless mother, hooked on drugs had sold her son to the drug dealer as payment. Her son forced to work with the drug dealer was involved in the killing, but refuses to testify in order to protect his mother.

  

Episode 20 - Girlfriends

A college coed is murdered and the crime is meant to look like a rape, though it is later proven that no sexual assault took place. Briscoe and Curtis soon learn that the student was part of a campus call-girl ring and go to arrest the "madame" - who has fled the country. McCoy and Kincaid then target the madame's father, who has helped his daughter work her way through college. Cara Buono (Next Stop Wonderland) and Jame Naughton (The Cosby Mysteries) guest stars.

  

Episode 21 - Pro Se

After being accused of brutally murdering three people, a schizophrenic homeless man decides to represent himself in court. When the case is brought to the District Attorney's office, Kincaid (Jill Hennessy) realizes that the suspect is the same man who she plea bargained with on a harassment charge over a year ago.

  

Episode 22 - Homesick

A baby boy's poisoning leads detectives to a baby food manufacturer, but the real culprit might be in the family. Poison is found in the nanny's room, leading to her arrest. During the trial, however, Kincaid and McCoy discover that the baby's older half-brother - jealous of the attention paid to the new baby - killed him. Patti Lupone (Life Goes On) guest stars.

  

Episode 23 - Aftershock

After witnessing the lethal injection of Mickey Scott, Briscoe, Curtis, McCoy and Kincaid react in four very different ways. This form-breaking episode follows the four main characters individually through their day to capture the unique and personal effect the execution has on each of them. Jennifer Garner (Alias) guest stars.
