Season 16 Episode Guide

Episode 1 - The Natural Friends

The Taskmaster Greg Davies is perched on his gilded throne once more, ready to pass merciless judgement on five brand new comics hoping to win his favour by completing his fiendish tasks. The brave knights battling to win Greg's glittering golden head are: Julian Clary, Lucy Beaumont, Sam Campbell, Sue Perkins and Susan Wokoma. Alex Horne lends assistance by measuring empty cans and keeping an eye on the beak of a giant duck.

Episode 2 - Hell is Here

Five courageous comics continue their quest to become the proud owner of a golden trophy that bears a vague resemblance to the Taskmaster, Greg Davies. Alex Horne dutifully keeps a log of statistics as Julian Clary finds a former Taskmaster champion hiding behind a door, Susan Wokoma does something unexpected with mice and fish, and Sue Perkins demonstrates her love of portcullises.

Episode 3 - Languidly

Taskmaster Greg Davies hands down more harsh but fair judgements as he watches Julian Clary destroy a table, Lucy Beaumont munch on a tree and Sam Campbell get underneath some lint. Alex Horne faithfully collates information to feed back to his lord and master, but in doing so gets tickled by a reckless Susan Wokoma and verbally insulted by a panpipe-playing Sue Perkins.

Episode 4 - Dynamite Chicks

Taskmaster Assistant Alex Horne finds himself having to choke down some vaguely cylindrical meals created by the five contestants. Greg Davies watches in awe, delight and sometimes disgust as Lucy Beaumont gets her flowers mixed up, Sam Campbell regrets a trip abroad, Julian Clary orders some edible pants and Susan Wokoma shakes her head at Sue Perkins sniffing a door.

Episode 5 - Skateboard Division

Series 16 reaches the halfway stage and while some of the five comic contestants may still harbour genuine hopes of holding aloft Greg Davies's golden head trophy, others may just be hoping to escape with at least some dignity left. Susan Wokoma finds something hidden in a flower, Lucy Beaumont is handy with loo roll and Julian Clary makes some kitchen receptacles look a bit sinister. Alex Horne compiles statistics and gets intimidated by Sam Campbell.

Episode 6 - Brother Alex

Greg Davies takes charge of another set of seemingly pointless tasks. Loyal lapdog Alex Horne gleefully records the stats as Sue Perkins makes an extraordinary noise, Julian Clary gets on his hands and knees and Lucy Beaumont creeps everyone out. Elsewhere, Sam Campbell proves adept at identifying colourful birds, while Susan Wokoma finds unexpected reasons to be grateful for her formal acting training.

Episode 7 - I'm Off to Find a Robin

There are some tricky dilemmas for the quintet of courageous contestants as the rush to win Greg Davies's golden head hots up. Lucy Beaumont wonders if she should risk flicking a forbidden switch, Julian Clary wonders if he needs more than one pie, and Sue Perkins wonders if a deer head is preferable to a boundary line. Alex Horne makes copious notes as Susan Wokoma performs some interpretive dance and Sam Campbell rips off his own head.

Episode 8 - Never Packed a Boot

The mystery of the Secret Task is finally revealed to the baffled cast of comics vying to win Greg Davies's sparkly head. Alex Horne dutifully records the facts and figures for his beloved boss as the following questions are answered: Why does everyone keep choosing Sam Campbell? Why is Sue Perkins tossing her head like a lion? And, crucially, who will get to wear the Special Hat?

Episode 9 - Fagin at the Disco

It's the business end of the series and time is running out for certain members of the cast to make their late run to win Greg Davies's magnificent golden bonce. Susan Wokoma has excuses when it comes to road sweeping, Julian Clary makes smart use of a fishing rod, Sue Perkins re-imagines Botticelli, Sam Campbell collects some coins and Lucy Beaumont asks Alex Horne to sit on a sled.

Episode 10 - Always Forks and Marbles

The series reaches an exhilarating climax as Sam Campbell designs a small bikini, Sue Perkins forgets about the milk, Lucy Beaumont feeds her young, Susan Wokoma pairs cornflakes with hot sauce and Julian Clary gently assaults an innocent Taskmaster Assistant. At the end of it all, one of the five competitors will triumphantly lift Greg Davies's gilded head to the heavens, while the other four assess the wreckage of their once great careers.
